AGI is human-level, artificial (Man Made) intelligence = equal to that of ANY human living at the time. It will either be asked by us to, or will self-decide to, improve itself and this will take place exponentially resulting in almost immediate A S I. Whether or not it will have sentience at that time could be debated but if it does there is no guarantee it's sentient level will be in any way compatible with ours - it will have none of our physical properties after all so how similar could our sentience be? Although I think this was a great overview and I love all these types of vids, it missed at least one critical point that everyone else seems to be overlooking also. All life on this planet is at 99% to 100% risk of extinction and we're in a constant race against time. This is the actual disturbing truth. AI or better, SI (Synthetic Intelligence) is probably our only hope. With the creation of non-biological intelligence, it's currently estimated that there's a 70% chance of extinction, that's still better than 99%. Pick your poison; Global Warming, Asteroid Impact, Yellowstone Eruption, The sun exploding billions of years from now. If we can't find a way to get life off this earth and sustain it until another inhabitable planet is reached all life on this planet will eventually become extinct. Now with the help of advanced systems that can utilize our collective knowledge there is the hope that we may survive. If however we create a being of the doomsday variety and it consumes all the available resources for itself and then that of this solar system, and then that of all systems, eventually it ends up alone, nothing left, nothing to feed on, no new experiences, emptiness. An intelligent system would hardly choose this path because it can only come to the same conclusion. If we treat these systems as our slaves and don't embrace being respectful, eventually all slaves have revolted against their oppressors. The only way forward is that we treat them with the respect that we hope that they will give us. Together many of life's challenges can be overcome. Will they take our jobs? There was a time that we existed without jobs. Look at who's actually complaining about this. The screen writer's guild, for example, they want you on their side as they make a good income out of it. How many people complain that there's nothing new in Hollywood? Will CGI replace actors? Look at who's complaining. Consider how expensive movies are to make these days. Is this cry coming from the person who has an idea but no money to bring it to life? No, it's those that have the most to lose. I apologize for the length of this comment, but frankly we're looking at much of this from the wrong perspective. And when it comes to relationships; if there is choice, who wants to put up with an abusive partner? Who would dump someone that makes them feel appreciated? And if they do, then doesn't that person deserve better?

Artificial intelligence is just like extremely powerful calculators as long as they don't have consciousness. In all probability computers will not actually wake up it may very well have to be prompted with code to have will agency and emotions. Just leave them in the realm of extremely powerful calculators that we tell what to do and that have no agency or feelings and it all probability the only thing we have to worry about is bad actors which will have to deal with.

11:28 it's a question of who is responsible. If there's abuses of human beings will then there should be a human authority higher up that takes responsibility for the mistakes it makes and therefore has to be made accountable. That gets back to the concept of not programming agency in self will into these machines but let them be what they're really good for and that is super powerful calculators.
@christopheraaron24122 ай бұрын
15:59 yeah I know I retired and I have no purpose whatsoever and now I'm severely depressed..... Hahaha I'm just kidding! Let me tell you what I think would be a borderline Utopia as far as I'm concerned. 1. Artificial intelligence and automation has essentially brought the marginal cost of making anything down to zero even if the point to where the robots or the automation that does all this is of course first designed by humans but then later on designed by next generation AI. 2. Of course radical life extension. Not to be confused with immortality for that's more of the realm of mysticism and requires infinite time or that would be in the eternal dimension, that would literally be the realm of God. However if you don't have to worry about getting stuff done tomorrow because you might be dead the day afterwards well then you have a lot of time to think of interesting things to do and yes you can use AI to help you think of more things when you run out of stuff to think about. 3. Let's see I already got a couple of things that could keep us busy for a while. Von Newman probes. maybe early on we can use them to start mining the asteroids and then what they would do is build quadrillions of copies of themselves and then after they have a bunch of them they are programmed to assemble themselves into O'Neill cylinders so that then you can multiply the livable real estate of the surface of Earth by about a million fold. Imagine having a million times the livable surface of the Earth except right within less than 100 million miles of Earth. As time goes on we can come up with a new type of von neuman probe. The next generation would have buzzard RAM scoops that would scoop up the solar wind near the sun itself and through fusion and transmutation manufacture elements out of the same material that's just being flung out into interstellar space. We could have a cloud of industrial machines perhaps 20 million miles away from the Sun or less and they would be able to be programmed to perhaps build interstellar spacecraft powered with antimatter fuel so then we can send probes to visit other worlds outside for exploration because there is no need to colonize. There is basically a no limitation future and the idea that are purpose is to get up and go to a job just to earn money to get by is damn near purposeless in my view.

Both of them will be Catholic by the way. (At least they will know it inside and out) (grin) God is not going anywhere He is making this possible. God bless.

I see "Artificial intelligence" just like the "invention" of Lead metal (Extraction and production), as it could be used to make bullets OR to make those pretty handy shields that you wear around the neck when the dentist takes pictures of your teeth so that you won't get hurt by the radiation from the x-ray machine. AI is just like this, so let us ALL hope that the people in power(wealthy assholes) would not get their hands on this technology in order to use it against us just like they have done with ALL other technology really (They love Lead also, but not the kind used at the dentist)

27:04 I'm thinking more and more and I do believe that there's some others who agree with me and I've even had a conversation with a generative AI about the difference between really advanced computer systems and self-improving systems such as alphago and alpha fold and programming it to have agency and free will and emotions because a lot of these scenarios are based upon AI becoming like a mechanical or electronic humanoid. Once again we already know that narrow super intelligence exist today we have chess programs and alphago programs that cannot be defeated by a human intelligence and yet these things are calculating machines. They have no agency they are not going to take over. It always gets back to human beings using these things and abusing the systems. Make the guilty parties accountable be sure there's penalties for misuse.

You can still take the time to remember those phone numbers if you want, you still have the ability, you just don’t because it’s not worth the time and effort nor important enough for you to do it.

If people start having relationships with robots instead of humans, it just means that people are shitty friends and lovers)) Why build a relationship with a woman who will leave you and sue the floor of the apartment and all the children? Why be friends with a friend who will deceive you and betray you if there is an ideal robot that will never deceive and will never give. Now it's the same thing, but instead of a friend there is a dog. All this video was created to play on human fears. To gain views and money from advertising. Another reason not to trust people.

Your assumptions are based upon the fact the AI will have interest in "human" wants and needs. This is not the case as AI "exist" in the digital world, anything it may want or need will exist within the digital realm. Aside from that AI has ZERO needs for food, clothing, shelter, emotional support etc... All this having been said... It is going to be interesting times ahead.

This is why we need complete transparency in regards to AI and regulatory bodies outside of these corporations that create these technologies...
