Sentinel was a great Prime, but he forgot that his duty as Prime was to do right, defend the truth and be fair, even if it meant the destruction of Cybertron. Optimus knew the duty of a Prime, he did not surrender to despair, Sentinel failed to see that Humanity as a whole was no different from the Cybertronians, in fact they were like distant relatives, physically different but with the same soul.

Unpopular opinion: Sentinel Prime is one of the best and most fleshed out villains in Bay’s TF Movieverse. I think the music exemplifies this perfectly. During his introduction, he is seen as this mentor and leader figure. Basically Optimus sees Sentinel how the Autobots see Optimus, a heroic and wise leader. Sentinel’s theme during his introduction sounds triumphant and wise. However, his theme quickly turns somber and dark as Sentinel reveals his true colors. He favors the survival of Cybertron over the lives of humans, who he sees as selfish and ignorant. From what he’s seen, humans would rather prioritize themselves over his kind, who they call “machines”. He cannot fathom how they could be viewed as equals to the cybertronians, who are seen as gods. He even made a deal with Optimus’ arch nemesis in order to end the war and save his planet. The last soundtrack in this suite is the best part. Optimus is looking down at who was once someone he looked up to, now nothing but a traitorous broken reflection of what he used to be. Optimus is forced to execute his former leader. The worst part? Sentinel ended up being right. In the next movie, the humans end up betraying and hunting down Optimus and those who he holds close, despite after everything he has done for them. Nemesis Prime in TLK is eeriely similar in ideology to Sentinel.

The Duty of a Prime is to secure and protect their race; they're a type of knight. Sentinel, being old, he followed this code up to the havoc, doing everything to protect the ones he loved. This caused terrible consequences, thus, he made a deal with the Decepticons, wanted to eradicate humanity, and lashing against his own kin. I feel Sentinel was following the orders he had received from fellow Primes or Quintesa herself. It's not that he was evil, his love and dedication for his race lead him to other steps.

I have seen all these comments about Sentinel’s character, and this made me realize the progression of villains was great. Megatron TF1: an example of destruction and desire deceptions could do The Fallen RotF: an example of what a Prime isn’t Sentinel DotM: a good Prime that has to make bad choices for the right thing. His predictions come to pass in AoE Lockdown AoE: the buildup to Quintessa. Does what’s best for himself. He is also right since Autobots and Decepticons are pointless, since you can switch sides and they can lie. His free life gives him no orders Quintessa TLK: the cause of corruption. Nemesis is a mirror of Sentinel. Unicorn is more reason for Transformer’s duties to destroy humans, which also gives more rest for Lockdown since he’s not obligated to fight him.

Imagine losing your mentor and hero during the war shortly before losing the war itself, but then decades or centuries later, you miraculously come across him and have the only tool in the universe capable of reviving him. You bring him back from the dead and think he will return to his role as a wise and trusted leader only for him to brutally snuff out one of your best and oldest friends before joining the enemy, conspiring with them to wipe you and the rest of your men out, and starting a brutal war on your new home, killing thousands with the intention of enslaving billions. I can see why Optimus dispatched him with so little hesitation. If anyone ever deserved it, it was Sentinel.

A painful truth, Sentinel's last words were no, But he wasn't saying this to beg optimus. Because Optimus had told him “You didn’t betray me, You betrayed yourself”. That's why he said no to Optimus. Because he did not want to admit that he had betrayed, Because he didn't want to kill Optimus from the beginning, He didn't kill Optimus in the first place, he released him. He was waiting for his best student to understand him, He wanted to be with her best friend, Because he didn't want to build Cybertron alone with decepticons, Because this honor could only belong to him and optimus. But the conditions were impossible, the chances of the autobots winning the battle were very low. That's why he had to sign the treaty he didn't want. Before killing ironhide, He sadly confessed his true purpose and plan to Autobots, and He had to kill Ironhide, Because he had to get to the columns and Ironhide could have prevented him there, so he had to get him out of the way, That was the only reason he killed his. One of the basic rules of being Prime is not to harm the living, Maybe he broke the rules here but he was still an Autobot. You can call him a bad guy but he was just a heartbroken because he was thinking about his planet. In fact, he did not want to harm the autobots, He was just trying to stop the autobots from winning. Even in the last fight scene with Optimus, And the last scene was also close to killing his best friend for the sake of the planet in order to disperse the autobots because there was no other choice. You have already noticed from the words. He was talking about saving Cybertron, saying how great his kind was. And He wanted to rebuild his planet so much that this desire made him drunk, and unfortunately he became a victim of his desires, eventually forgetting who he was..😢

Sentinel Prime was more of a hero than Optimus ever was. He was willing to do whatever was necessary to save his own planet and race even if it meant the deaths of a few of his own race

This music is very emotional in a way, sentinal Prime's despairation to save Cybertron got the better of him and he felt as if he had no choice when sentinel woke up after his deep hybernation as soon as he had the chance he slipped away with the pillars and ran to Megatron and when Optimus went too confront his old mentor and try to convince him to stop ,it was too late . . . In a way they were once a family, but now they're hell bent on destroying each other.

Fue un gran lider pero el problema es q Sentinel prime queria salvar su planeta y pues optimus prime esta con los humanos :v prefiere el planeta tierra q cybertron y tambien en la tierra los humanos llamano a los llaman simple maquinas mientras ellos en cybertron son Dioses practicamente. Es entendible porque sentinel decidi por su planeta q por la tierra , ademas q en tf4 los humanos traiciona a los autobos al matarlos a casi todos 😪😪

Nah bro. Sentinels armor is weak as hell, it was easily penetrated by RPG which even humans can lift it. Meanwhile Lockdown defeated Knight Optimus which is way more powerful than OG Optimus
