I hope you don't think there would have been any connection to Sephiroth and Lucrecia because she is a terrible parent. She gave him up as an experiment from birth. What connection would he have with her? Zero, and rightfully so. She and Hojo agreed to make him a freak experiment with that alien. So, do you think him knowing that will make him close to her? Absolutely not, his disdain for her would be the same disdain he has for humans.

@Lala Loopies Except Nomura`s character models are not exactly known for diversity in general. Nomura himself even recognized this which was why he gave Denzel wavy hair to distinguish him from the other Geostigma-infected kids who otherwise(Along with all the other characters in The Film)resembled a mix of their voice actors and creators` features.
