I use Audacity for the most part. And I edit my videos using Movie Studio Platinum 14, so occasionally I'll make adjustments in there to bring everything together.

Couldn't you just let the recording run while watching the video you're lip syncing to? That's what I did here. I'd start the recording, switch to the commercial, and do as many takes as needed to get the match right. A little helpful trick is to clap or snap after a good take so you can easily find the good takes in Audacity later.
