Theory time: Astan was poor and abused at that time. She hated it, and nobody helped her when she needed it. She did not recieve love and was angry. She saw what they treated her as the norm. She started having fights with herself, her conscience and her anger. The anger wanted to take revenge on those who gave her shit while the conscience wanted her not to do it. The anger won to fight, and so, she burned down the village. She hung/crucified the person who caused her the most pain and killed everyone else. She, in the beginning, probably ran away and hit her head in which she knocked out. When she regained her conscience, she forgot what she just did, showed by her ragged clothes, and went back to the village, wondering where everyone was. When returning, she was shocked/horrified and wanted to know who did it, not remembering it was her. Her memories slowly came back, and then she remembered. She did it. She became the sin of Wrath. (Edit: I listened to the lyrics again and there's a chance that it's actually her begging the people to stop abusing her)

I agree with most of the theory but the hanged figure could also be someone that she cared for and their death made her snap. She’s crying under them after all.

Amanda Smith maybe because the hanged figure symboled that side of her that was nice and smiled through that pain and then she realized that she doesn’t have to be abused anymore because all the people that hurt her are dead. She when the hanged figure disappeared it might mean that she is now pure evil

Ive seen a couple theories saying that the hanged person was someone she cared about or someone she hated, or symbolic of the part of herself that didnt want her to destroy things, but i think that’s actually HER. Like, not symbolic but her physically. On Mushie’s tumblr, they said that all the sins are kinda dead but not really, so maybe Astan was hung for her crimes and awoke as the spirit of Wrath.
