That is what Bill and the guide liked using, some anglers would not. It's about personal choice. thanks

Those aren’t steelhead, stop calling them so. It’s dishonest and annoying

Hi there, just want to understand your position. An Atlantic Salmon which naturally lives in lakes is called a Landlocked Salmon, stocked Atlantic Salmon are called Great Lakes Atlantic Salmon (they genetically come from eastern Canada sea-run stock). If rainbow trout that are genetically from strains of Steelhead on the American West Coast are stocked into the Great Lakes, shouldn't they be also called Great Lakes Steelhead? We've spoken to numerous biologists about this and they state they are genetically steelhead, just that they're now stocked in the Great Lakes. Happy to hear and understand your perspective in a friendly discussion of this debate. Thanks

@@newflyfisher I think there’s more to it than that. One can say a steelhead is just a rainbow trout that made its way to the ocean. Scientists still don’t know why some of them do and don’t. Is a steelhead really a steelhead if it doesn’t go into the ocean ? Then wouldn’t it just be a big rainbow ? IMO I think a rainbow that heads into the salt is a tougher fighting fish than the ones in the Great Lakes and more worthy of the name steelhead, but I’m not a scientist.

@@newflyfisher his prospective is lack of knowledge. Just like my friends in the PNW. They think we just got rainbow trout. Somehow a steelhead brought to the Great lakes and planted turns it into just a rainbow lol
