I appreciate your reviews! I don’t like books with spice or a lot of gratuitous swearing so i like it when reviewers say if those things are in a book. I loved Wormwood Abbey! It was so much better than I was expecting.

I understand having a month of DNFs. That's how October is feeling for me so far 😅 And I agree, I'm not very comfortable with normally evil things being presented as being cute. That's the main reason I don't pick up some popular fantasy books, especially the witchy ones. Glad you did find some books that you enjoyed though!

I’m reading Tea for Elephants and loving it. The faith content is amazing. I’m also excited about the new release in The Timeless series. Katie at paperbacks and ponytails is doing a group read of Brave this month, Biblical fiction. Then in November interviewing the author.

I LOVED Garlic and the Vampire!! I also haven’t touched many of the books you DNFed for the same reasons you stopped reading them. I have a few people I follow who prefer their books with spice and cursing, so when they recommend a book - I know not to read it!

What a rough month. That is so disappointing. You and I draw the same lines about the content we read. Thank you for your candor, too. I’ve been wanting to read Garlic and the Vampire. A Patreon I think you might really enjoy is Olde American Spirit. We’re all Christians and like minded. We’re even doing a Bible study together. We have daily chats. You do a great job with your reviews.

I appreciate your honesty on why reading certain things isn’t healthy for you. We all have our own things and convictions, and I respect that you know yours! I am definitely in the line of thinking that spicy books can lead to temptation and potential sin, so that is why I also avoid them. I don’t struggle as much with light innuendos, but I do try to be mindful of what I’m reading.
