I think the review speaks for itself and I'm now using it as my 'go to' spot welder. For anyone thinking it, yes the interface looks very similar to another well-known spot welder but I prefer this one because nothing seems to get hot and the welds are perfect! I use a lot of Amps (500-650) to make the weld contact area much bigger because this is the only area that current flows through. Doing a crappy weld where the nickel has only just managed to fuse (indicating nothing but an adequate weld) will increase resistance and not get you the power you need. I'll be doing a video soon on how to achieve a PROPER weld because it annoys me when people review spot welders, pull the nickel off, reveal the smallest contact area and announce it as a 'perfect' weld when clearly, it's not!
Amongst other unknown things about me, I am a fully qualified welder (seriously) 😁

Now, that's the PROPER use of a microwave transformer for spot welding. Using the same kit for doing batteries is a bad idea because it fuses by resistance heat, rather than spark welding.

@@Vortecks Yes, in my case the current passes through two pieces of metal with the tips opposing each other. The current flows from one tip to the other in the traditional way. This surprised me when is see batteries done in this way that it worked, and didn't just melt the tab...🤔🤔😯

Did you tryed allready 50 welds and over in row (one by one)? get hotter and hotter? I'm still using malectrics pins and they are very hot after some welds so after 15-20 I must take a break.

Just started using this. .20 strips need 70ms @100% pulse! Using a car battery for power supply with 6awg cable. Things get hot. I suspect the battery can’t deliver 300amps required. Any thoughts on how power source affects weld current?

Hi Tony, did you see any over current protection on the inside (there is no mention in the manual)? It possibly just relies on wire and battery (internal) resistance to limit the current. Hopefully your monster pack won't start eating the FETs!

No mate, there's no internal protection. I ran it at > 650A with a 0.3mm copper strip and a 25ms pulse for quite a while and nothing blew.

Hey are you still using this as your main spot welder? I picked this welder up not along ago. Im using it with a Zee 3s 7200mah 80c battery which meets the requirements. I was working on my first battery build and everything was working butter smooth. Super clean welds. Until out of the blue my welder just starts blasting through my nickel strips. I was only using 0.1mm strips with a pulse timing of 5ms and it putting holes right through. I emailed the company 3 times and i really got no response.
@Vortecks
@Vortecks 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I still use it with zero problems. A few points to note..... fake nickel (it's actually nickel coated tin) doesn't perform anywhere near as good as pure nickel. If you get sparks, it's fake nickel. I've known people who bought 2 rolls of nickel and they changed half way through. The first roll was pure nickel, the second was fake so it blew holes in everything. When welding any nickel, you need to make sure that the strips are flattened after you cut them - any air gap between the nickel strip and battery will blow a hole in it. Make sure you clean all surfaces with some solvent (obviously, make sure it all evaporates off afterwards) because dirt/adhesive/dust/engineering oil causes a lot of problems. If they're reclaimed cells, make sure the terminals don't have anything left over from last time (grind off all traces of previous welds). Do not sharpen the tips but make sure you don't have any black carbon build-up on the ends - the tips need to be clean and slightly rounded to get a better contact area which spreads the current and gives a better weld (and also stops it from blowing holes in everything). Dial the pulse duration down until it doesn't weld properly and then dial it up by 2 points. I don't think it's the welder, it's something else that has changed.

None of the UK "dealers" on their website list the welder much less have it in stock. Where did yours come from? My Malectrics one failed and was repaired under warranty and I've just blown it up again. In the meantime, I blew up two cheapo ones while waiting for the Malectrics to come back. I would like one that keeps working.

I have one of their battery powered thermostatic soldering irons and it is really good. I'm glad to see that their other products seem to be good. I have a Malectrics spot welder and the recommended 5,000mah 65-130C Lipo (mine is from China Hobby Line). It would be interesting to see how the Sequre works with a battery like that or whatever their minimum or recommended battery is. Not everyone is going to have a 1,000A capable battery...
@Vortecks

Have a look at the video again. (0:42) In the manual, it says a 5000mAh with a minimum of 60C which is 300A. My welds are around 700-800A because it works much better and welds differently. I'll be going into detail about spot welds and the different types soon......they're not all the same.

hmm, watched another one that runs off a internal battery that can do 1200A, not sure where i saw it, but that was also a good small spotwelder, you charged it with a typer c or micro usb and it would discharge itself to 50% if it hadn't been used for 5 days

I made my own out of a microwave tansformer at one point but it was never successful in creating a decent weld. All they seem to do, is weld the metal by heating it up and melting it rather than an instantaneous spark weld. They don't produce enough instantaneous current to weld properly but that doesn't mean they don't work! I don't like the idea of welding by heat alone and I don't like the idea of working with 240v.
