How is this Clijsters match not number one!! Dont mind me im making my comments live as i watch. Quick Story, I was in 10th grade when this match was on, and it started like 9:30 pm east coast time or something like that. I had mid terms the next day and was being forced to go to bed early... Well i woke up snuck on the tv and the score was 5-1 in the third... the nerves kicked in. I couldnt sleep... So every 10 mins or so id turn on the Tv expecting the match to be over and each time it wasnt, i was shocked. I actually give myself credit for this win because i prayed when it was 5-1 for her to come back and she did. Any way that was only my second grandslam watching her and from there i knew id forever be a superfan.

Coming from 2 years of complete inactivity, murder of sister, depression, out of shape and not fit, played 6 seeded players, ranked 81 in the world verse the number 1, many doubters and even critics saying she’s ‘delusional’, Nike threatening to drop her, only 4 tournaments in 2006 and injuries: then just basically violently beat down the world number 1 as if she was a nervous qualifier. That was important for her to come back and make sure she let everyone know that she’s still the queen of tennis 😉

Serena technically might not have lost twice in 2004 to Sharapova. She had an injury (pulled stomach muscle), and went through the motions whilst in pain and was on course to win until the injury occured. Did she not 'retire' that match in any event?

I don't know if she's the GOAT of tennis, but she's definitely the GOAT for drama. How she handled herself in the US open(s), was outright horrible. To be the greatest sportsman/woman of any sport, you do have to have a decent standard of sportsmanship.
