I see a lot of people hating on the RockBand guitars but I’ve had 0 problems with the ones I’ve collected over the years. Harmonix, in my opinion and experience, have produced great and more authentic looking/feeling guitars over the years. I was a bit skeptical making the switch to using RockBand guitars since I’ve used the Xplorer and Gibson Les Paul for most of my life, but now that I have I can’t go back. Sure I’ve had to take time to adjust to the different strum feeling/no strum sound and slightly wider frets but I would have to adjust if I came from RB to GH guitars if it were on the other hand regardless. I guess it just comes down to taste. I love playing standing up, jumping, moving my body and jamming out as if I were on stage as opposed to sitting down stiff as a stick and have had no problems playing or FCing songs on any game, same as with the Xplorer guitar. For me, the switch to RB from GH guitars was for better aesthetic and nicer looking instruments, more authentic feeling instruments, and quieter gameplay (no fret or strum sounds which greatly help put you into the atmosphere of the game). Everyone has their reasons but those are mine. I’d love to hear what you guys use and why as everyone is different and have different tastes.

I always had a strong distaste for GH guitars, as well as the franchise in general. Here are a few reasons on why i don't like this franchise or its instruments. Instruments: 1. They are way too goddamn loud. The clicking on both the strum bar and the frets get really annoying real quick. 2. The frets are too far apart. I can't easily transition my fingers to a lower fret when trying to pull off slide notes (Idk what the actual term for it is) 3. The guitar designs look like shit. They look way too cartoonish for my liking. The Games: 1. Accuracy: Unlike Rock Band, where the songs are charted to be as accurate as possible to the original song audio, Guitar Hero adds on non-existent notes to make the songs artificially harder. 2. Song Library: The current total # of songs available as DLC for the Rock Band series is 2,882. Guitar Hero only has 1,115. 3. Better Modding Community: The Customs Creators Collective (better known as C3) Has a much higher standard for what can be released into our song database. Unlike GH/CH's community, which is only good at making modcharts.

I always used my Explorer Guitar for easier gameplay. It’s wired to make tilt or overdrive/star power easier, the buttons are a little loose to make fast fretting simpler, and it can strum fast notes more easily with the little loose strum bar can make it work, and stays connected forever. It makes scoring much easier with it. No joke. Will always use it on a regular basis, no matter what. Tried a Rock Band 4 Guitar before for Rock Band 4, but I had many issues with it. My hand couldn’t figure out the frets, the strum bar is too tight to hit notes, that just made it confusing for me, and I’m never playing Rock Band 4 again. I stick to playing Lego Rock Band, or Rock Band 2 all the time.

As an avid user of the Explorer guitar since its release, the Rockband guitars are much, much better in terms of build quality, authentic instrument feeling, and gameplay. The loose buttons, clicky strum and overall toy like build aspects are not by design, they are by fault and the result of RedOctane and the Guitar Hero franchise pioneering rhythm games and instruments and serving as the precedent for which future models were based, and greatly improved on. With my Gretsch Duo Jet Rockband Guitar I’ve had absolutely no issues and have actually played better and felt more in the game with it since my purchase. After all, taste is subjective and some will have a taste for one guitar over another.

I really wish I hadn't lost my Xplorer, it'd be worth a nice slice of money now. It literally just disappeared on me in between moves. I never liked its form factor but it was built like a tank for sure.

@@Darkshock25 I never preferred the Xplorer, but it was handy when I played on XBox because of the compatibility. Like its SG counterpart, it's just a little too short compared to later models. I would've liked selling it for $200 online though, I only paid maybe $60 for the GH3 bundle it came in (it was one of the later manufacturing runs with the Gibson labeling on the head)

2:06 Guitar Hero Live is on Xbox One. That's what I have it for. 2:31 Wireless Guitar Hero guitars have detachable necks, not Rock Band ones. 3:16 You can shim the neck in order to keep the neck from wobbling. I have the Jaguar for the Xbox One and it's not that drastic on mine. 4:44 I have the Stratocaster for the Xbox One and I haven't had any issues with the battery life.

@@Jammert Rock Band is more accurate when it comes to how their songs are charted. Plus, the game is still alive, getting new DLC every week. Guitar Hero died when Guitar Hero Live came out. *Rock Band has been and always will be better than Guitar Hero.*

Rock Band 4 just came out last year, why would they make a new game? They did exactly what you said, made a new game and made the old songs work on it. I wouldn't expect Rock Band 5 anytime soon. They are currently working on Rock Band VR though.

SergeantPope Apparently RBVR isn't gonna have as many songs though. You don't get to port over your past DLC. And most of the in game songs are just songs that have been in the series before. Pretty sure it's exclusive to the Oculus as well which is too bad.

The little knob is called the pickup Switch. On a real guitar it switches which pickup it is turned on.

My RB2 Strat from 2008 still works pretty much flawlessly with Guitar Hero World Tour on PC, and I used that thing for years of consistent Expert play across the whole GH/RB catalogue on XBox. It was my drum controllers that consistently failed, I had the RB2 and GHWT kits and those pads just aren't made for long-term play unless you're careful. Sadly I never got back into music games until recently so any chance of playing RB4 easily with all my XBox DLC and exports is slim. I see Jaguars go for $150 used on the low end, and the legacy adapter starting at $300. It's sad that Microsoft can't be bothered to tend to a legacy hardware issue that literally prevents a game from being playable unless you have hundreds of dollars. They could very likely release an official adapter for maybe $40, or outsource it to a company that still exists. I bought a few dud Strats online because they're usually cheaper (my Taylor Swift GH5 Wiitar was a lucky find as well, I use it with the Raphnet for GHWTDE) and with Strum Fix Plus from ByteArts they're excellent if you like the smoother fret buttons of RB controllers. The replacement is super quick and easy if you're careful not to strip any screws.

Yeah man, I got a guitar with Rock Band 3, and so many of the keys broke within a month, whereas I still have a GHII guitar (Which I use A LOT) and it's running almost perfectly. Blue button is having a little bit of problem on sustain, but nothing terrible.

Just found this video. Been playing since GH. No joke. Still play RB4 Rivals every weekend. Have a collection of guitars to say the least. As well as spare parts. *eye-roll* The connection issue on the RB4 Rivals guitar is REAL! Happens at least 3 times during our 10-12 hour play sessions. Of course we take breaks....dah. I have fixed my guitar several times and adjusted the keys for better contact, no contact or sporatic lost contact. Broken strum bar and detector. Whammy bar issues. ECT Overall, I would say after millions of button hits and hundreds of hours of gameplay............... they have held up pretty good. The "jitters" in the song tracks are the WORST! It's as if the video and sound are fighting to match up. It usually stops, but sometimes, as with most computer programs, it "glitches" and jumps dramatically or locks up completely, forcing a restart of the game. 😡The investment into our groups entertainment has been significant. Microphones, drums, guitars.... Including the RB3 Electric Guitar, Keyboard and two Digital drum kits. If anyone has tried RB4 on the PS5 please let me know. I doubt that there will be another RB, so keeping everything working or finding fixes, spare parts, new (lightly used) instuments is always on my radar. Keep on Rock'n!

Guitar Hero guitars aren't perfect. My GH3 guitar didn't get much use and random buttons will stop working sometimes, but usually orange (It's usually only one button having problems at a time, like red will work half the time but the others will work perfectly and then it's a different button).

You seem kinda pissed off through the whole video...but I definitely agree with you. Right from the start, GH has been making FAR superior instruments than RB. Even comparing the RB drums to the GH drums (ones from band hero/WoR) GH really has a quality instrument, where as the RB equivalent just feels cheap. They have that dollar store toy quality, like where you're afraid it's gonna break without warning. I've been using my GH Red Schecter (the one in your video) since 2009 when I got it with GH5 and to this day it has never had a problem. No over-strums, no dropped notes, nothing! A lot of people praise the Les Paul, which is a good guitar, but the Red Schecter is without a doubt the best guitar controller you can buy. Not to be confused with the Sunburst Schecter from GHWT......that guitar is alright, but the Red version is an overall improvement on that with a rubberised texture and much more reliable strum switches.

@@Tiduspeco True, I ditched my RB3 Pro Kit for an Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit. Now it just stands as a museum piece in my bedroom. Also, your comment about RB instruments being "dollar store toy quality" couldn't be further from the truth. RB instruments are way more reliable, and they actually look like proper instruments. GH instruments look like they were ripped out of a cartoon and barely work properly, always overstrumming and not registering frets.
