Definitely security problems were the issue. I watched several other videos and the just kept hacking out the Audio, The "Record Voiceover" button under windows and the "equalizer" button in iMovie. Finally I found your video and went to security settings. VERY NICE... it works.

Wow, solved my issue in 10 seconds. I would never have guessed that security settings could be an issue. I had been going mental over this for weeks. Amazing that this isn’t anywhere (at least easy accessible) to be found on Apples support site.
