It’s weird hearing how likable these characters once were. Like I did feel a little touched by Prue’s sisters being there for her when she was sad about her mother’s death. It makes their downward spiral in the later season more sad.

Prue and Paige (for the most part) were the only good characters really

What would of made the fear demon a lot more threatening is if he can make fears real not just for his victims but an entire city on Friday the 13th. For example if a witch is scared of earthquakes he can create a real earthquake killing countless people. Maybe that would've been too dark but at least it would make more sense why he's their greatest enemy

Though there were a few issues, I think the initial appearance of Barbas here is the best. I think there was good potential to seriously using people's fears against them. There could have been a plausible explanation for not being bound by the 1300 year between appearances. Unfortunately given the direction the show took, he just became another super villian

The creepiest part of this episode was the Sisters not fighting with each other. Also, I think maybe it’d be more appropriate if the show would call Barbas their most personal enemy as opposed to “greatest”. Tormenting the sisters with their mother’s death Participating in a scheme that got Piper’s son killed Tricking Leo into killing an Elder Trying to get all their powers taken away There is thread here which was nice to see even if he ended up getting beaten too easily. Maybe that’s just me though.

To correct you guys just a bit Season 1 had a bit of a habit of not giving things established names that would later occur to have names. Like for instance When the girls find out Leo is a Whitelighter (or rather Phoebe does 3 episodes from now and Prue/Piper don't until the Penultimate episode), the rules regarding Whitelighters there are different than every season following. The Elders weren't even the Elders they were addressed as the Founders. I assume this was because they had plans for them that never went into fruition. Season 1 is the best Season of the show tbh. I felt Season 1 struck the best balance of the Halliwells and the campy nature.

Me being a Charmed OG Fan I really appreciate these podcasts...they are GOLDEN!!! 😅 When I first started watching Charmed I came in on the 3 season I guess the middle of the season so I had to go back and watch the first two seasons later. I noticed some inconsistencies especially with the Witchstock time travel episode with the GoGo boots, Grams was way too young, they should have either aged her a tad bit more or not do the episode or something, one of my least faves. I noticed a lot of camera flaws such as when the Charmed Ones were in battle with Zankou over the Nexus and Phoebe clearly has wedge heels on but then when they are thrown across the room you see her again with tennis shoes on its like WTF 😂😂😂 but I didn't focus on the inconsistencies much back then but now it's like all of these podcasts are RIGHT! My precious Charmed Ones were selfish asf! Smh lmao 😂😂😂 like damn, yall only been witches for 8 years, 5 for Paige so yall haven't been doing this that long 😤 alot more innocents could have been saved and now looking back on it Cole really could have been saved smh Prue and Paige always knew Cole was evil in some form or fashion but at the same time, after meeting Phoebe he began to fight his evil side when he clearly could have killed her so many times (I so love Phoebe sorry 😂) but she could have been killed and the Charmed ones would have been broken. My thing is, she never was held accountable for just going evil, and I wish she would have and the fact that Prue was right about her assumptions of him being evil and later Paige was as well. If you have Billy Drago, you don't wait 1300 years to bring him back again. The Untouchables didn't bring him back, and despite having Costner, Connery, and DeNiro, it didn't get a sequel. Coincidence? I think not. At 1300 years, in all of human history, he'd only have had 5-6 chances. And in those early ones, he'd have had to go across a major subcontinent to get from one witch to the next. 700AD would have been slim pickings still too.

After hearing your descriptions of events on Charmed, Supernatural and New Charmed, I have decided I never want to watch a TV show where demons are just mostly humans. A movie can do it interestingly, but on TV it just seems lame week after week. Especially on Charmed where they could procreate with regular people and there were innocent demon babies. I have listened to you talk about Charmed for MANY hours and I still am confused by that.

I think demons being human-like worked on Supernatural _conceptually_ because they were demons possessing human bodies, but they definitely weren't written in a very interesting way that really made them different from "evil humans with powers". The angels fell into the same issue as very few besides Castiel acted "inhuman" or otherwise like they were unfamiliar with humanity when that's what would make a character like that interesting.
