This is my favourite book series ever. I saw the show but didn't know about the book. When I found the first book and began reading it I loved it. The twist was so good. So underrated.

CharleyMarieLoves i actually went on the Netflix help center and chatted with one of them and asked if they could ever do another season of lying game on Netflix he said it was highly possible and he sent it to representatives and I suggested it on the Netflix suggestions so I think if enough of us do it they could bring it back Netflix has done it before so he said it could happen they actually look at the suggestions and since he sent it to them so get as many people to do this as possible so Netflix knows we want it back

I've never considered reading any of Sara Shepard's books but I think I might pick up the first book of this series! I used to love mystery novels when I was a teenager so listening to you talk about this made me feel nostalgic.
@BetweenChapters9 жыл бұрын
sarawithoutanH Yeah, you can always try the first book to see if you like it. I would have loved these when I was a teenager! Some of the characters are a bit juvenile for me now, but any YA set in high school is fun and nostalgic!

I love this series and I prefer over both Pretty Little Liars and The Perfectionists. I was so shocked with who the killer was. I've cried less over character deaths in other series.

I really like the Burn for Burn trilogy by Jenny Han and Siobahn Vivian. It's about 3 girls in high school from different cliques who come together to get revenge on the popular kids who have wronged all of them in some way. As the series goes on, you'll see a couple more similarities too. ;)

Hello! First, amazing video. I can see that you are a nice person. And you take the time for us, you did : 1:44 Genre/Summary 3:41 Style of Narration 4:19 Who would like this series? 4:50 To binge or not to binge? 5:29 Review 7:31 Rating thing. That, that takes time man. Soo THANK YOU :) But i have a question, Do you think this book series is also good for boys? like straight boys >.< I mean, when I had a girlfriend, I always had to look to PLL. And I liked it but sometimes it really was too much .. you understand me a little? Me English is very bad .. x] But I know that Sara Shepard almost always writes about girls. And the covers are not exactly "Bad Ass" So, you think I would enjoy this books? ;3
@BetweenChapters9 жыл бұрын
+Isaapje Hi, thank you! I think there is no rule about what types of books straight boys definitely will or won't like. It just depends on your taste in stories! Since you have seen some of PLL, I will use that as a comparison. The Lying Game also has a group of girl friends, and is from the point of view of a female main character. There is a lot of girl talk. But The Lying Game is a more straightforward story, and in my opinion it's a better mystery. It follows a more traditional murder mystery style. It has a ghost, deaths, pranks, and psychological elements. So, if you enjoy those things, it wouldn't hurt to try it!

Yes, there is some romance. I didn't think romance overpowered the story, but it is there, the characters have boyfriends.
@hollyray48849 жыл бұрын
I swear, I MUST have missed the fact that Sutton was the narrator because I was surprised when you started talking about one of the twins being a ghost. I remember not connecting with the book because I thought it was a 3rd person POV and was thrown off by the bits and pieces that hinted it was Sutton. Idk if I ever put the pieces together (poor me if I didn't); all I know is that I finished it with an "eh" feeling toward the plot (3 star?) and didn't love it enough to continue. But that was an awesome spoiler free review! And now I'm kind of contemplating rereading the first book ;) lol.
@BetweenChapters9 жыл бұрын
Holly Erin LOL I'm pretty sure the book starts off like "I wake up in a strange room and realize I'm a ghost." No clue how you missed it. It's been a looooong time since I read the first book, so I don't remember that exactly, but I double checked the official summary of book 1 to make sure it was completely obvious.
@hollyray48849 жыл бұрын
Between Chapters Maybe I did know and it's just been so long that I've forgotten but if not, I've already accepted the idea of me being a complete ditz when it came to this book. I've come to terms with that being a definite possibility. :P

Hi! I have read the first book of this series, I read it like a year ago. But someone told me who killed Sutton and I still remember. I don't know why or how I just know who did. Do you think the series is still worth reading when I know who the killer is?
@BetweenChapters7 жыл бұрын
Finding out the killer came as a complete surprise to me, and I think I personally would not have wanted to know it for the whole series. But I have a friend who figured it out a few books early and she still enjoyed the series. There's always finding out why and how that will be a bit of a mystery. I guess it really depends on how much you enjoyed the first book.

Trina, thank you for this review. I have been debating getting into this for quite some time but haven't heard anything about it. If so, did you read the second book?

Angie's Epic Reads I think you'll love this series if you like PLL and murder mysteries! The PLL show is soooooo different than the books! I bet you'd still like them also. I have read the first book of her Perfectionists series, but not the second one yet.

The show did the entire first book in it's pilot episode, but after that it ran out of material! A few things are the same, but they seem like completely different stories to everyone I know who's read and watched. Especially book 5 and beyond, you can barely tell it was based on the books at that point!

I loved these series! I read the pll series and though I'm only on book 3 I like the lying game series way more and I hate that the killer was there all along and she never knew it or even acknowledged that they could've been a suspect which sucked. And have you read the perfectionists series yet?

@BetweenChapters7 жыл бұрын
I didn't know who the killer was ahead of time so I can't give you a good answer on that. My friend guessed it around book 3 or 4 and she finished the series and still liked it. I guess it depends on how invested you are in the characters and story.

@BetweenChapters9 жыл бұрын
+Holly Letson Same with this series, I had a few years break between the first 2 and the last 4 books. I feel that Sara Shepard refreshes your enough that a re-read isn't necessary. :) I read one of the novellas and found it completely unnecessary. It was a scene from before the series takes place and had no influence on the story and was actually covered in one of the actual books just as a "hey do you remember that time when...?" I never read the other novella since I felt that was one so pointless. I'm not a big fan of novellas though!
