In the 2018 film, the spaceship "Aniara" is a luxurious spaceship that takes passengers from a dying Earth to Mars in three weeks. During the voyage the ship is hit by space debris and all the fuel is ejected into space. It's now headed towards the Lyra constellation, until the ship passes another planetary body and can change course. It's based on a epic poem from 1956. It's been presented as a poem and an opera and now a film. The possible course change is a lie by the Captain to give the passengers hope, and to maintain calm. Over the next 24 years the occupants to to religion, sex, suicide and slowly go mad. Five million years later the remains of the ship reaches the Lyra constellation and it flies past a beautiful blue green world. It's an odd film to watch to say the least. It's shot on location with malls and theatres and hotels presenting the interior of the ship.
