Perhaps the boys in the boarding school was subjected to s abuse and harsh punishment and the former teacher just watched on without helping or reporting the matter to the authorities.

Yeah it’s clear they were physically and maybe sexually abused and he did nothing to stop it. I don’t think we need to actually see that for a movie like this to work.

Yes! I was thinking that when he brought up the boys boarding school. I was a teenager when I saw Sleepers. Things like this don’t usually bother me, watch it, think about it & move in. But Sleepers left me really unsettled. That uneasiness is still in the back of my mind today

In Sleepers, we easily rooted for those kids who got abused because they only get revenge on those abusers alone. In this movie, the 2 abused were even eliminated the innocent teens and one store clerk and even beating up the wife.
