I think that CD Projekt RED's intention in giving every almost every single character in game a name was to give a player better immersion. So that they could feel that they're surrounded by the real living world, not by a bunch of bots and some major quest-giving characers which are only given the name like in other RPGs.

I was always confused. Were Serrit and Auckes witchers from the Viper school? Or were they just dudes who traveled with Letho? Or were they "early stage" witchers who never completed the Trial of the Grasses?
