This is what I call a proper psy-bass tutorial, the internet was definitely in need for this one ! I would have used 2 EQs in a case similar to this bass not only to get better "view" but also I feel that the algorithms works better when the EQins is seperated on several EQs than one doing the whole thing ! And your technique for creating the saw wave is an absolute time saver for such a task !

Love it when you find a person who just sits with you and talks you through stuff like these vids, as opposed to having sit through obnoxious loudmouths, who want you to see their face and hear drivel, and laugh at their pointless jokes, all while waffling on about crap instead of what you came to learn. sub'd.

Excellent video, and very carefully explained. Just one naive question: I assume the purpose of using Saturn 2 crossovers is to address phase problems arising from modulating the cutoff of Serum’s LP 18 filter, is that right? As you sweep through the crossover positions are you listening to the changes, or looking at the waveform on the oscilloscope, or both?

Hey man, if you didn't know for your envelopes you can type in a note value in serum (i.e. 1/16) and it will set the length of the parameter to a 16th note at the bpm you are at 🙂 Good for setting decay time of psy basses
@MuteProduction3 жыл бұрын
I find that especially used for kick drums!

Nice, thought it would be good if others didnt know about it. Downloaded your serum preset pack, fantastic presets man 🙂 the kicks in particular are great, i haven't seen someone use the macro controls the way you have, its a super good idea. Especially synthesising them in serum so its automatically pitched to the key of the track. All in all sensational work man 🙂

regarding the EQ i havent seen you toggle on linear phase mode - is there a reason for that?
@MuteProduction3 жыл бұрын
yes, i avoid linear phase at all costs because it ruins the transients, and it just sounds bad 😂
@notsure11353 жыл бұрын
Have you seen how E-clip does it? Similar to your way, however, he adds an envelope to the second filter in the fx section. Also, he has barely any sustain compared to your way. I like both tutorials, the playing around with phase with the bands is common to both of you, he however uses Vitamin.
@MuteProduction3 жыл бұрын
i haven’t seen his video no but these days i’m using hold in my filter envelope and then using the filter in the filter section to shape the transient :)

Great tutorial! One of the best bass tutorials I have ever seen tbh 🙌 But how did you get the oscilloscope of the kick and bass on screen? Bc everytime I put an oscilloscope on the kick and bass channel and I switch back to the bass processing, the oscilloscope disappears and only pops up again when I switch back to the kick and bass channel again. So how can I have a plug-in on screen, although it’s not on the Channel that I am currently working on? I hope u were able to follow me haha not sure if I explained it good enough😅

you need to go into your preferences and change the settings so it doesn’t hide plugin windows when you change channel :)
