Charine van den Bergh I once had a lady yell at me over the phone because she lost her credit card at the store. Me and 4 other coworkers looked for it for a good 15 minutes and couldn’t find it. she called me an idiot because we couldn’t find it and I snapped. I said it’s your card you’re more than welcome to come look for it yourself or just cancel it!!! She told me that we had just lost a customer. I said okay and hung up 😂

I’ve worked in the food industry before and I completely understand what they have to go through. Recently I was working at a call center and on our break a girl I worked with called a restaurant and had a delivery put in. Mind you, I’m in Illinois and this was a day where most businesses were closed because the temperature had gone down to -50 degrees (yes you heard me right and yes we were required to come in and the restaurant was still open). It took a while for the delivery man to get there obviously, because it was so goddamn cold. He dropped off the order and left, and about a minute later I just hear my coworker screaming about how her fries were soggy and that the delivery man took too long and that she was going to call the restaurant. We were all telling her “Don’t do that. He shouldn’t even be working right now, give him a break.” But she didn’t listen. She called the restaurant and started screaming at the person who answered, NOT EVEN TELLING THEM WHAT SHE ORDERED. She went on like “With how fucking long it took for this to get here you would think you could get my order right!” And the restaurant legit just hung up on her, and from that day they would never deliver to our call center again. I’m glad they didn’t. They don’t deserve to be treated that way.

Charine van den Bergh the only thing is the owners don't like to hear that. All customers who say that aren't the worst people or very rude. I also used to work in an ice cream shop and let me tell you, as a church goer I am appalled to say that our WORST customers were church people. I mean down right snobby, stuck up, rudest customers I ever had all came out of our after church rushes. I remember one time I had an old couple (they had just come from church, I know because they were with their church group) complain about how some of the counters were messy because we were super busy and we weren't slowing down. we did have one girl that was wiping down counters, but as soon as she'd get one clean, another would be trashed. They spent 15 minutes complaining to my boss about how we should have more pride in our workplace and this was after ranting to me about it for 10 minutes. Then, when they left, they left ALL of their trash on the table. we had designated trashcans with tray slots all over the place and they left their trash on the table, after spending nearly 30 minutes complaining about the store being dirty. UGGGGHHH. I felt the rage from these stories in my soul.

I have a story for y’all... I used to work at a well known home improvement store and was working the paint department this particular day when a woman in what I assume her 60’s caught my eye. She was roaming up and down the aisle where we keep all of our tint-able paints. Normally when I see a customer do this, I approach them assuming they want a particular color mixed and they are trying to find the right base for the color they want. So I do my usual and ask what I can help her find. She says she doesn’t need help that she is just looking for a color she previously purchased. I inform her that this aisle has no premixed colored paint but if she tells me how much the paint was since she previously purchased it and I can tell what product it was. She started using profanity while telling me there is no way I’m smart enough to know a product by the price. I inform her that the color she is looking for is not down the aisle she was in because she claimed the paint was pre mixed. I brought over the ONLY paint that had the mentioned color pre mixed in. She told me to F off and leave her alone. I literally almost walked out the store at that moment. I walked out of the department and took my apron off and was standing in front of the doors to leave. It was a moment of just pure anger. I instead returned to the desk and went about my business. A few min. Later, this woman walked up and was calling me sweetie and hun and asked for me to mix some paint for her. I was blind sided by the behavior change and I look in her cart and there next to her purse was THE FREAKING PAINT I TRIED HANDING HER WHEN SHE TOLD ME TO F OFF! oh... my... Lanta...

First guy was a short change artist. They come in with a big bill, usually a hundred, and then try to fluster you when try to give them change. It had nothing to do with your age or gender. Typically they give you the hundred, and then when you try to give them change they start saying you're doing it wrong, or suddenly find a smaller bill and want to get their initial big bill back plus change, and can you give them change for a 20 while you're at it. I waited tables for years and they're really bad during the holidays when you're busy and they use that to their advantage.

Then, and only then, will I allow them to ask for change or to change the bills. Yup...I've played this games a million times before and got burned

When I ever come across a customer who likes to change their order or likes to send thing back because of the price( which I clearly repeat back or explain to them) I actually ring their order In at our POS that doesn’t send to the kitchen, print it out, and make them sign the itemized receipt to confirm their order. I know it’s a bit extra, but if they’re being that confusing and annoying, it’s definitely worth doing.

It’s called a quick-change artist. The best solution is to lock the till, call the manager up, have him pull the till a refresh, and let the manager balance the till in back. That will determine if there’s an overage, and it will chase off any scam artists
@feyfantome5 жыл бұрын
Also, it’s wise to leave the counterfeit pen on the register so you can test in front of the customer: if you take the bill out of their sight and then determine it’s a counterfeit, they’ll be able to reasonably argue that you switched out the real bill for a fake out of their sight

I've had experiences before where I explain to the customer that this is procedure or policy, and what I am doing is in fact correct - but the customer won't listen so demands to see the manager. The minute either a checkout runner or section leader comes up to the till - they are usually older or more experienced the customer immediately listens to them. But nine times out of ten they never apologise for offending me or accusing me. I guess I have one of those faces - because I look young - where they think I don't know what I am doing

Omg one of my worst customer service experiences (at a coffee shop I worked at) was also a “one hundred dollar bill guy,” as well! I've worked in a convenience store at my college for the past two years, and while it's usually a pretty relaxed job it gets absolutely insane during home football games. I'm pretty good at handling customers and dealing with them trying to mess with me (usually just out-of-towners thinking they're being funny by pulling the bill away when they're handing it to me, that kind of thing), but it always annoys me when they do it to my coworkers since we have a lot of freshman workers who have only been working a few weeks at that point and they're already flustered from the sheer volume of customers. Luckily the most annoying ones are only there for the game so we don't need to deal with them again.

I worked in a bakery shop and similar things were happening occasionally. I wish someone had warned me ahead but they didn’t, I was young and had no idea so I got tricked twice (two different tricks) and only then I learned to be absolutely solid about not changing peoples money unless they buy, and I never exchanged money when they were trying to confuse me by pulling out more money out of their pocket. These tricks can be googled and they are so damn effective of you don’t know about them. I then became really agresive when another person came and tried it on me. Eventually I got to train new workers and I would always warn them because if someone warned me, I’d not loose money and I would be saved of so much stress. It didn’t even take a whole year to quit though, because these incidents were just a tip of an iceberg, there was so much wrong with the place. It is so important to share these experiences. Because when you are young and starting, you have no idea that this will be happening and how often, and noone at the spot will usually tell you because they don’t want you to get scared.

I have my own 100 dollar bill man. It wasn't my customer. The coffee shop I worked at had a day shift a afternoon shift and a midnight shift. Only the day shift and the afternoon shift had a manager on it. The midnight shift only had 2 people on it because it was NOT busy. They had maybe a dozen customers. The afternoon manager would skim the tills and put all the extra money in the office in a safe for the bank deposit in the morning so the midnight shift only had a limited amount of money for making change until 7am when the morning manager came in and unlocked the office. This guy came in at around 6:30/6:45 in the morning and ordered some coffees. His order came to MAYBE $10. He hands over a $100 and the barista is like "I'm really sorry but I can't take $100 bills. Do you have anything smaller? Or I can take debit or credit." This dude started freaking the fuck out "It's legal tender you HAVE to except it!!!" Blablabla and in hindsight especially since where ai live there's a HUGE problem with conterfeit bills He was probably trying to rip us off. He freaks out a bunch, the barista explains that WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO GIVE YOU CHANGE Dude finally just pays on his debit card and grabs his tray and attempts to have a little dramatic storm out and just trips over his own feet and drops all his coffees on the sidewalk on his way out and had to sheepishly come back and ask for his coffees to be remade. Which props to the midnights barista for being nice and remaking them because if it were me I would have straight up said no.

My mom used to work in the industry. She working at baskin robbins, red robin, el torito... etc. she told me about how when she worked at baskin robbins if she had to deal with bad customers, she would go in the giant freezer and scream bc no one would hear her there

Oh he totally got it...I’m sure he did this all the time. I worked in banking for years and people would try this a lot 🙄 they are called Shortchange Artists! And the last lady was just waiting for You to offer it to her for free...I’m sure. I hate people! Lol

Wow. You have guts girl. Hugs!! I think you talked about another 100$ bill guy in a older video!
@cc_snipergirl5 жыл бұрын
The guy was a con artist, and this is a very common ploy they use and one of the reasons many establishments don't accept $100s (other than the change, of course). He knew that when the boss got confrontational, he was not going to get his money and if he continued, cops were likely to get involved. He switched his tone to avoid confrontation, which is something he was likely not getting from you and your co-worker since the boss is really the only one who can escalate things with customers.

I feel your pain. My job is 3rd shift at McDonald’s and we get SO MANY customers like this🤬🤬 McDonald’s is THE WORST company I have ever worked for. They require us to take any and all abuse from the customers. I stay there though since it is easy money for the most part but omg the bad customers are literally the worst!

My most memorable customer was a guy we dubbed the creature from the brown lagoon... he came in covered in what we all thought was mud, but once he walked past we smelled it... it was feces.

Oh my God, customers in retail businesses are complete assholes to the employees and staff, especially to the ones that go out of their way, above and beyond to give the upmost wonderful satisfying Customer Service and get treated like a piece of crap afterwards. I hope Karma came and bit those people that were mean and nasty to you in the ass, they sure as Hell deserve it. You didn't deserve to get treated like that. Kudos to you standing up for yourself and yelling at the Swirl Lady, I would have done it too lol. Was your manager there when the incident happened?

Its so weird i worked in retail for so long and hated my job. Wich made me react like a bitch to almost anything( i was mostly in charge of the shop on top of that.). But one day, i was in a good mood and was super nice to a bratty difficult customer. She was fully unapologetic until the whole customer service was done. Then she made a 180 and said how much she loved my service and wanted to offer me a job in the bar industry since her son was an owner. Story short she got me a job that made me so much more money that i didnt even know how to get access to. She legit told her son to hire me lmao. Thanks to her, you never know who you serve. But i get it, 99% are nobody’s assholes with no power 😂 i just got lucky 🍀 but then in that industry i had so many customer like in your first story. Good for you to have that technique, my boss always had my back too. Bless them! But i was never victim of sexism like you were. We kepts our end no matter what and they still acted like dicks. So they got punched and thrown out lol. Glad to know in general bosses have the workers side. Whenever i wouldnt get a minimum of 15% tip they would confront the customer, wich happened often. Everywhere i go if the employee is trying to explain something politely to a customer that doesn’t deserve it, it is my pleasure to be rude and explain it to them the right way 😉

I think because ice cream shoppes usually have such a high turnover & also a lot of high school kids working there I think he was counting on some of you girls to be new and easily shaken. Boy was he wrong! Just a shame he did this in front of his kids. Can you imagine their lives with this guy??

Ug I worked at Publix for over 2 years and I would explain something to a Male customer over and over and once a Male coworker came over and said the SAME thing as I was saying and the customer would FINALLY be like oh okay that makes sense... I can only hear when another man speaks, women have no actual sense

Hi from California! I used to be a barista, and I was working a midday shift. A male customer came up to me and ordered some hot drip coffee. I go to pour it, and the guy said to me “stick your finger in it, yeah?” And winked at me. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that- it struck me as so weird and creepy and offensive.
