ROFL Warren is all loved up over that lovely little puppy. Warren, my mother once told me, you can get a good insight into a person's character by observing how they interact with animals. She added "It's a good sign, if not a complete indication" YOU, Warren ARE a good bloke!

Hi Warren. My name is Chad. I've been following you over 2yrs now, you are so awesome on what you do. I love your video's and how you explain everything. I'm gonna be going to Diesel Technician School up here in Washington State, and with your video's I've learned alot of stuff. Keep up the good work and don't let these haters keep you down. The positive people we all love your video's and learned alot from you. Good job Warren and thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Always a pleasure to watch you work, Warren! Loved seeing your puppies. Last heavy starter I changed was on an 11M. That Power Probe is a handy gadget, but as you know, popping the button it feeds power back to the control circuit. Sometimes, that can be an issue. The interlocks on circuits, like the clutch switch, can cause grief. Nice to see you are methodical. Well, I expected nothing less. Glad to see success on this job!

So glad to be retired since having to test engines with a computer was not a strong suite of mine and looks as that is the only way to test them. A guy from altec gave me a two by four foot piece of delrin to place under a vehicle and slide in under it, damn nice thing to have, so if you find a sheet of it, grab on to it, your back will thank you for it. It’s only 3/8 inch thick yet it holds my weight and your a lot thinner than I am. You ever get near Spokane or Coeur d Alene let me know, I’ll give it to you and my altec hydraulic test kit, to make those hydraulic tests so much easier since it makes tapping a line temporary to test pressures simple. You might not like my gauge holder a six by twelve half inch stainless plate tapped to hold quick connectors for the gauges including an air pressure gauge for those air over hydraulic systems. My sons don’t work on hydraulics other than brake systems so won’t need those tools. Be a tad costly to ship and risk gauge damage

Great video Warren it's interesting how the same starter can have different part numbers but yet look the same physically. And have the right number of teeth on the gear that drives the flywheel. Glad it worked out and starter worked stay safe.

The Delco starters had a nose piece that could be rotated depending on mount up fit. I was given a rebuilt that had the wrong position. It went right in and bolted up tight. It locked the engine up tight. The pinion housing meshed with the ring gear perfectly. It was an 8v-71 Detroit. All the experts were guessing it was the blower locked up or some other seized component. From that day forth, I looked real close at every starter I replaced.

Great Troubleshooting Video Warren. Good note about the batteries when reconnecting. I was recently working with a guy on a C15 Cat, he didn’t mark all the wires when replacing his starter and we had issues when connecting the batteries, arcing like crazy. Found a hot and ground mixed up. Red and Black Tie Straps would come in handy before you disconnect, if there not labeled or marked. Thanks for sharing your time and videos. I really appreciate it.

Got called to work on a Sunday. Truck no start. Driver and Ops man tried to jump start for two hours. Went down and Determined starter no good. Towed truck with chain and popped clutch to start. Driver was told to leave it running. He drove from Rocklin Ca. To Austin Texas and back. Never shut truck down. When he got back, I changed the starter, I missed one wire that power the dash. Owner Panicked, But I knew what I had probably done. Wire was in Battery box not on starter. Cat 3406E in 3xl. Kw.

Last truck starter I worked on was a 77 671/250 , bought a rebuild kit $39.00 , it had 2 bad brushes , put bushings wicks an all in , soaked the wicks with 80-90 w after putting then in . Holding that starter on 1 knee high in the air and 2 hands was the hard part , knowing if you dropped it on yourself it wasnt going to turn out well , that was a long time ago now .......Those old 671 , 8v an 12v were the best...........

My 2019 clothes washer would not pump out the tub and quit, found out rather quickly that it has a circuit board that flashes codes at you (if you go into diagnostic mode) and has a component test mode that allows you to push buttons and test each individual component (mod-darn technology!). Guess what, the tub pump would not run. Replaced the pump and my wife is happy now. After finding the part number for the pump and googling it found it all over the place even on Amazon. To me this means the pump unit is shit, maybe go ahead and buy two.

But next time it was dead, just solenoid clicking. When I took it apart to check what was wrong, the brushes were GONE. One brush was still in one piece, the other 3 were a pile of frayed leads and fragments! It gave its all!

We have a small fleet of DD13 Detroits and D13 Volvos . In our experience the DD13s have been more reliable but the D13 Volvos pull better. The dang Volvos are going to leak coolant from every fitting on it and the check engine light stays on. Weird issues like shutting off like you turned the key off. Still under warranty and it’s the same story from the Volvo dealership “We can’t find anything wrong with it “. The DD13 haven’t given any trouble but they sure are gutless from a standstill. If you ever get out of the boost on the road it takes forever for them to spool up and go.
@wazza33racer
@wazza33racer 2 жыл бұрын
@@prevost8686 Yeah, it takes a DD15 to equal the pulling power of a Volvo D13. Even then, it doesnt feel quite as lively. On fuel and adblue (DEF) the DD15 is far cheaper to run, it uses about 20% less fuel and half the amount of adblue. The DD15's in our new western stars dont use adblue at all.
