Every poodle breeder in the US knows your name LOL I love it. I wish you best of luck getting through the next six weeks without Finnegan, that must be really hard but it sounds like you are definitely doing it for good reasons. I hope he gets plenty of PA practice while there and that the trainer gives you all good news about his suitability for service work.

You mentioned wanting to teach been guiding related tasks and how you thought that would be very helpful, maybe you can make a video explaining more about that?

I hope you are doing well, I totally sympathize with you on Finnegan! Hope he can work through that reactivate phase! Actually Milo has been reactivate lately to!! The other day a toddler ran up right behind him to hug him, and milo backed up and let out a bark! I am definitely going to do more PA training, I plan on taking him to petsmart once or twice a week and really crack down on his reactivity when he's scared or spooked! I figured petsmart was a good place to do that because he is going to see other dogs and people Also I LOVE watching gear hauls! A gear haul video would be awesome!

thank you so much! and totally! that's a great idea. reactivity periods can be super hard and stressful but it can be so worth it to work them through it and see results! good luck with that! i'm sure you guys will do great! and SAME!!! i will def film some!! :)

@@thepawswithpurpose yeah it is really stressful, but like you said it's totally worth it when you see your training results! (Today at my moms work, he did amazing, even worked on off leash heel!) Can't wait for the gear haul vid 👀

What breed is the other therapy dog you mentioned? Who does that dog service?
@thepawswithpurpose3 жыл бұрын
she is a rescue actually! and she is a therapy dog, not a service dog, so she doesn't do tasks or have public access rights, but sometimes she goes to hospitals or schools to provide comfort to people! :)
@cdlady54_953 жыл бұрын
@@thepawswithpurpose are therapy dogs the ones that can tell when you are sick, like can sense oncoming seizures or diabetic issues? That is what I need, so please forgive my lack of knowledge.
@thepawswithpurpose3 жыл бұрын
@@cdlady54_95 don't worry! we all start somewhere! so service dogs are the ones who are trained specifically to help someone with a disability. therapy dogs don't have public access rights and are not task trained to assist someone with a disability, like seizures for example. a service dog would be trained to maybe alert the handler to an oncoming seizure, retrieve medication, etc. where a therapy dog is only trained to comfort other people. :) i hope this is helpful!

Hey! So I am also in high school and I have been thinking about getting a service dog, what are some tips on trying to talk to my parents about getting one. One doctor said one would really help me and another said I don't need one, what do I do about that? When would you say a SDiT is ready to go to school, I don't plan on bringing them in as soon as school starts, but when is a solid age or state be to take them in? How do I talk to my school about bringing one in, because I know there are some difficulties with that? Since I have some communication issues, I don't really know what to say to my parents, doctors, school, etc. about my problems, my parents want me to try everything else first, and then we will talk about getting one. Side note: Maybe you could make a video on how you talked with the school about bringing Finnegan and how they prepared for his arrival...?? Anyways, I hope you have an amazing day and weekend!!!

Do you have a 504 plan? Your service dog has to be added into it. And it's your decision if want one, you already got the go ahead.
@AJWolf-jt8ew3 жыл бұрын
Or iep I personally have a 504

hey! totally, the process can be super stressful at first! i do have a video on my channel talking about taking your service dog to school and i have some tips in there that might be helpful for you! if you want to DM on instagram that would be great and we could talk more about your other questions and i can see if i can help? your parents have a point about trying other forms of treatment first, but that doesn't mean one couldn't be helpful for you!!! message me on instagram if you want and i can try and help you out because it's a lot to put in the comments hahah! :)

@@AJWolf-jt8ew you can totally add a service dog to an IEP or 504 plan but it's not necessary if you don't want to! finnegan is actually not on my IEP! :)
