we tear down a h80i v2 from corsair and show how to clean and refill to extend the life of your AIO.
corsair uses an Asetek pump which is the same as
NZXT
Thermaltake
Fractal Design
and just about any other waterblock/pump style AIO

You do know that black gummy material are the hoses starting to dissolve from the inside out due to the corrosive coolant? Eventually the hoses will get very soft and the coolant will actually start to sweat through the hoses and leak everywhere but by then I'm sure you would have done multiple flushes and realize its just best to buy another AIO. I'm sure you know about GM's DeathCool problem, multiple videos about that too here on KZbin. Believe it or not, manufacturers knew about this problem long before they started to see the AIOs coming back for warranty/overheating issues and knew that it was best to just use the hard plastic tubes but customers complained about the inflexibility of the tubes and had to revert back to the rubber hoses. Until they come up with a better coolant solution, these rubber hoses will continue to dissolve from the inside out and gunk up these systems.

highly recommend using a push pull fan system on small radiators...i still have'nt found any type of pull fan design out..all fans are push blade..even the GPU fans are push (food for thought) wouldn't you think it better to pull heat away from the heat exchanger on GPU's rather then blow the heat back into the case their in ? like how a car rad. fan does when the car is sitting idle..

Great video! Subscribed and thank you. I've got a Corsair H115i and it's causing my CPU to overheat. It still appears to be working as it can still keep it a little cool whilst it's idle but can't cope with any kind of pressure. One hose is getting really hot and I've found out that this means the head is probably clogged. So I've got de-ironized water, can I get away with using just this or do I need some coolant also? Also, should I flush it a few times? Do I need to use de-ionized water for the flush? Do I need to power it to cycle the water a few times for a flush? What would be the best way of getting power to it outside the case? Any extra advice is greatly appreciated.

Flush it a few times, fill it with ironing water and coolant, it has a protective effect on metals and it's inexpensive. Also I wouldn't flush it powering the pump because it couldn't be designed to work without a load

I have exactly the same problem H115i is in 4th year now, ambient temperature is 24'C, i7-6700K (no overclock) idle temp is 50'c, always throttled down when I do stress test with AIDA64 Extreme or failed with temperature of >90'C, I just bought Noctua NH-D15 and now my idle is 28'C, stress tested temperature maximum is 40'C, I will never again buy an AIO, air cooling eventhough it is big and ugly it will do the job

I've been running my H115i for more than 3 years now without touching it. Still runs fine. I would just buy a new cooler. I would never risk stripping and reassembling it for fearing it might leak. If it was to leak it would spill on the most expensive part on a pc which is the GPU.

Could just be a bios setting, if you have a water cooler and its plugged into the cpu fan header, it could be giving a false error, go into the bios there should be a setting to ignore fan warnings, each motherboard manufacturer has a different way to turn off the warning, then just monitor your temps

But everything I've researched into AIO's says that you don't have to change the water or open it up so videos like this is what really confuses me about this and I'm new to PC Gaming and I'm looking to get a Gaming PC with a AMD 9 3950X Processor and that requires Liquid Cooling if you overclock it apparently. So I was thinking that AIO are more beginner friendly for people who are not experts with PC's. I also can't find anywhere about the lifetime of a AIO if you don't open it up and clean it.
@ruthbakke4912
@ruthbakke4912 4 жыл бұрын
I just spent a good amount of time researching this stuff. Aios last about 3-5 years before needing to be serviced. If you KZbin videos of people draining their years-old never-before opened AIOs, you will see there is a ton of crap that builds up in them. The people who tell you that you never have to do this are people who would rather RMA theirs or buy a new one instead of fixing the old one. That mindset is something that was given to us by the manufacturers. They told us we would never need to do this, but as aios were new 6 years ago, people are just now finding out how long they last, and what causes them to fail. Good luck and welcome to the world of PCs
@darkinpresser
@darkinpresser 4 жыл бұрын
@@ruthbakke4912 ya from what I've managed to research on AIO's it seems they only last around 3 to 4 years if you don't do maintenance on them but the problem is that if you open one up to clean it out you completely void your warranty. Just like if you was to Manually OverClock ur CPU.

Thanks for this video! I bought an MSI 1080Ti Seahawk card secondhand, which has a Corsair H55 cooler in it. Was running fine for 5 months, I opened the GPU (just the casing) to remove some built-up dust, and then the issues began. My temps are running crazy high, as in 90 degrees Celcius after just 30 seconds on Heaven benchmark. Would you advise that I also clean it as you did in this video, or is it the fluid levels that are low?
@CustomCarsComputers
@CustomCarsComputers 3 жыл бұрын
If it was working fine before opening it up, then you might either have not enough mounting pressure on the gpu block, tighten it more, or there is not enough thermal paste
@elmarschroder
@elmarschroder 3 жыл бұрын
@@CustomCarsComputers Thanks for the tip! Will tighten it more when I get home. That being said, the one pipe is 100% getting hot, so that means the heat is being transferred, correct? The radiator remains quite cold, even without the fan. It's like it's only heating up at the lower part of the radiator corner, but the rest remains cold. Does this mean the pump is broken, or that the fluid level might be too low?

i have the same water block and im having a issue with high temps but if i tap the pump/ block a few times it returns to a normal temp. maybe getting jamed by debris in the water?
@CustomCarsComputers
@CustomCarsComputers 3 жыл бұрын
It could be getting air trapped in the water block, make sure the radiator is mounted either to the top of the case or on the side with the hoses on the bottom, that way the air will get trapped in the radiator and stay out of the water block, Gamers Nexus has a great video of this subject.

I got my H55 that can't maintain temps after 6yrs of use. I'm thinking of refilling it from the pump side to check if there's any debris in there. My question is: can I refill without powering the unit on? Is any amount of air inside detrimental?
@CustomCarsComputers
@CustomCarsComputers 3 жыл бұрын
There will most like be build up in the water block, i would take that apart and clean it, you can also fill from there as well, just make sure where you are filling from is the highest point while you fill it to allow all the air to get out, alittle air inside will be ok, for best results make sure the radiator is mounted with the hoses on the bottom so all the air stays at the top of thw radiator and not in the water block
