Yeah, but I wouldn't downplay how valuable a professional is at bringing sounds together. Like a painter who uses color to mix as a opposed to one who searches for the specific color, the last producer was able to give the song a "vibe" I've made my fair share of "empty" and "soulless" beats, not that it has anything to do with a producers emotional ability as much as their ability to produce it.
@katieking165
@katieking165 9 күн бұрын
Idk for me the biggest difference was that the professional person had knowledge of music theory and knew how to harmonise a melody as well as how to arrange a song. I don't know as much about mixing so definitely not defying your point, just adding to it.

This video just gave me the recipe for pro-level beats, time to cook up something amazing! I learned that pro producers usually use much better instruments and drum samples where as noobs don't focus on sound selection that much and instead try to fix stuff afterwards. I tell all of my producer friends to use platforms like Splice or Prodsounds kits so that you can have only a kick, snare and a bass and it already sounds amazing haha.
@calebcampbell5951
@calebcampbell5951 Жыл бұрын
You don't need to spend money to get amazing sounds. Just learn how to use a synth through and through, record your own sounds and mangle them, or scour the internet for drum kits/presets/samples. Also I've never found presets to be satisfactory, they all are made to please a wide audience or emulate the archetypal tone of a genre and thus are almost always boring to me. Learning to make sounds yourself will allow you to never rely on anything for your mix to sound good and gives you the freedom to flesh out ANY sound in your head whenever you want. Beginners using presets/kits almost entirely is a given but in the long game, presets can be very limiting. Sample libraries are great but don't offer anything you can't conjure yourself -- and your mix will be better for it in the long run.

You don't need subscriptions for sounds and your friends aren't wrong lol. Stop having people waste money, there's thousands of sound packs and drum kits out there for free. You can really tell where that experience went into. Firstly Simon's mixing was much better, the mix was more balanced, the vocals more present and the drums were hitting harder without distorting. Secondly the amount of ear candy and general scope of what he did in only 30 minutes were above the others, obviously because he doesn't have to experiment as much and knows what to do when. That was really insightful. Thanks to all three of you!

The Beginner and intermediate guys need to learn how compressor works and how to mix a little bit better. Meanwhile Simon added all the sauce. As a songwriter who can’t make beats, I look for beats that change throughout the song instead of having just one melodic instrumental sound aside from the intro- even the second verse and the second round of chorus should be different whether it’s more instruments being added or a shift in the beat, it helps with creating the perfect vocal melodies that will keep people listening and replaying the song! I think each level of producer did great but you can tell that the pro understood the importance of beat structure and development, great demonstration! Love love love!

The beginner had a more gangsta vibe to it. It was my favorite and would bump this on repeat in my car. The intermediate was a dope chill dance vibe could be sped up for some techno vibes. The expert one was what you would actually hear on the radio. Not my favorite type of beat but the way he flipped the sample is nothing less than masterful 👌 very creative. The spanish guitar was a nice lil flex too. Great video.

Stupid Question.. how can they tell what key the vocals are in to make the beat and melodies? Is it just ear training to know right away?

The newbie just needs to learn mixing and mastering. His beats and ear for melody are spot on.

Actually found this video googling a sound problem I'm having with my DAW. Just wanted to say those beginner keys were lush. I love that e piano sound, it works so well with this genre of music.
