I have a 2019 XSE Camry with 2.5 engine. The dealership said i need 7.7 quarts..... please clearifly if the is true as I see you only used 4 quarts for yours. Or is it possible i will have approx. 4.3 quarts of overflow. Thanks for a very detailed video...ur awesome!

They are probably looking at total system capacity! When doing a drain in fill, you typically only get half of the transmission fluid out of the transmission, the other half stays in the torque converter! Hope this helps

Question… Could you theoretically just do this without a scan tool and use a heat gun instead? And for fluid level could you overfill just a little. Let the car sit, and get it back to operating temperature and drain the excess fluid?

I have seen people use heat guns, but it’s not entirely accurate. I’d trust the “fluid adjustment mode” over a heat gun because it’s relying on the transmission temp sensor that is sitting in the fluid, rather than measuring the temperature of the pan itself.

@@SEsGarage ok yeah makes sense, I figured. I may have to just take mine to The dealer when I’m ready. I normally do all my maintenance myself. I don’t think I have the time to let my trans cool. Working in a collision center I don’t think I wanna spend another hour or 2 under my car while also having to wait hours for it to cool beforehand 😂😂 it’ll be dark by then

i have a 23 camry xse v6. and currently on her 10k miles. my question is when is the best time to change my transmission fluid. thank you in advance
@SEsGarage5 ай бұрын
I usually recommend it around 60k. This car had 38k on it and the owner insisted that we do it now. As you saw when we drained it the fluid didn’t look bad at all so I would’ve had no issues extending the service life of the fluid that was in this trans.

I have the same car. At what mileage do you replace the transmission filter? Does this car have the paper type filter or the screen metal mesh which you can clean and re-use?
@SEsGarage5 ай бұрын
@@csan255 in all honesty you should never have to change a transmission filter. If your filter is to the point that it’s clogged with clutch material and not flowing enough fluid, you have some major transmission issues

Out of curiosity, if this vehicle was brought to the dealership, would they put the job off until the next day, or let it sit for a few hours to cool down?
@SEsGarage5 ай бұрын
This is something that the dealership would likely have you drop the car off for

Do you recommend a scan tool for this?
@SEsGarage5 ай бұрын
I do
@GoatGirl3145 ай бұрын
@@SEsGarage I meant to ask, which scan tool do you recommend? 🤣
@SEsGarage5 ай бұрын
@@GoatGirl314 hahaha it’s fine! You need a scan tool with by-directional capabilities to be able to look at the transmission control module to read transmission oil temperature. I’ll put one in the video description. I totally forgot!

How long was the car on for it to be 95 degrees? For the no scan tool viewers 😂
@SEsGarage5 ай бұрын
It was about 80 in the shop so it only needed to warm up 13 degrees or so. It ran for maybe 5 minutes to reach 95 and it wasn’t in the window for long as you saw in the video! Ambient temp will definitely change how long it takes for the trans to warm up
