Stew is one of my absolute favorite camp meals. Easy to make, easy to clean and goes a long way. I’ve made the same timing mistake before so now I get the stew going then Setup camp and take my time getting all my gear sorted. Cheers and thanks for all the great tips over the years!

I've always had a good time with this kind of camp cooking. Red wine and short ribs is another good variation. Carrots, celery, tomato base & a nice cab sav or Shiraz instead of the porter. Delicious.

I've cooked exactly this recipe many times but last winter my meat was awful and I think you are absolutely right that it needs to go the distance, if only I'd been patient but I had a hungry crew waiting for a feed and I went for it because happy hour had gone overtime.
