At 52+ miles in my Clifton Edge (long runs, easy runs and tempos up to 6:25/mile) I find them fun, smooth and so damn light! I really like there's no need to be looking at your gait and yet manage fast cadence and stable feel in ascends and descents. It also has better traction and comfortable upper than both Rincon and standard Clifton. The midsole isn't as pillowy as the latter, though. On flat surfaces the extended heel is unnoticeable, not intrusive 👍🏼; some reviewers are too dramatic about this but well, youtubers gonna be youtubers. The ground contact foam does get worn but not scrapped-off as with the Rincons. I think the Edge is more like the Rincons than the normal Clifton, because they're light and fast. Unfortunately too expensive but def give them a try if you find a good deal. Cheers!

QD: Injury Jan - March: Transitioning to running in Vibrams. Mid-March: Wrist fracture from bicycle, continued running. April: Too much too soon led to (unknown) 5th metatarsal injury. April - May: on/off running, strength training, picked up cycling for exercise... found this wonderful channel. May: improvement, but nagging metatarsal injury, days are starting to look better. June: Finally hit the trails.... and then came pain in the 1st and 5th metatarsal. Throwing everything I can to get this injury better (foot strengthening exercises, balance ball recommended from this channel, cycling, tiger balm, stretches, light running). Injuries can seem hopeless, but it is a process. Learn and grow!

Not a lot of mileage, but a good speed workout mid-week, weekend had one race canceled, another run as scheduled. Managed a very unofficial mile PR on a track and a decent 5k time, all under heat, high humidity, and Saharan dust. No injuries, Seth you really helped get me on the right path with recovery efforts.🙏

QD: Thankfully, I’ve had no injuries so far in 2020. Last year, I had a horrible shin splint in my right leg that was starting to worsen into a stress fracture. But I took a month break from November 7 to December 8 and changed foot strike slightly. Now I’m running without much trouble in the shins.

This shoe is epic.. Its definitely out of the box and might lead to more 3 foam shoes. looks like they can make it lighter and more breathable.. but 9/10 for giving the runners something new to hit the road with.. also a definite neck breaker... shoe just catches the eye..

Wore a new pair of Topos, low stack and 3mm drop, on a 10 mile tempo run (6 miles of tempo in there). Stretched my Achilles, inflamed the bursas (bursae?). Achilles still not better after 6 weeks. QD: injuries: I’m on a 4 week running break. I went to the orthopedic with knee pain. Diagnosed with a tibial stress reaction that led to bursitis. It kept getting worse and worse until I had a hard time walking. I’ve been resting for 3 weeks now and it is feeling better. I’m going to rest for 2 more weeks. I actually can swing a kettlebell relatively pain free so I’ve been doing that and doing pushups. Swimming pools are still closed.

Got going for my run on Saturday and had no intention of it being a long run (in my terms anyway) but managed to complete my first Half-Marathon distance and in a sub 2:00, something I did not think I could achieve right now, super stoked!! Love the channel, keep it up! Today's video.... Hmmm, was really wanting to pick up the Clifton Edge for my next daily trainer, they have just launched up above the border in Canada 🍁. I am naturally a heel striker and have had to force myself to become a mid-foot striker to try and be more efficient and to help with turnover. But might give the Edge a try👍

I agree with you that the shoe is a tad bit high. However , as a Nike Turbo 2 owner it appeals aesthetically. But most importantly like you said if you don’t strike with your heel then it’s a rather mute point. I do dig the looks but not for 160!

C I I’d suggest day on day off for a start. Then you can start to build yourself up from there. Your body needs rest from the impact and a week of running everyday could cause harm straight up. Be patient, run every other day and when there’s no pain, add one more day each week. I still only run 6 days a week as I need the rest.

QD: Injury free for the duration, knock on wood. Had a good week mostly outside on our valley trail which I love, early in the morning when it’s nice and cool. I run every other day and am continuing to build my aerobic base but not doing super high mileage. Waiting for a vaccine and races to come back. Waiting also to re-register my 2020 Boston qualifying time per the B.A.A. allowing us 2020 entrants to do, though my expectations are low as to whether it will make the cutoff as handily as it did the first time around. Just grateful to be healthy and running.

I'm intrigued by this shoe because you're the second reviewer to say it's for heal strikers. I'm a 5k jogger and I injured myself, terrible heel pain, on 1/1/2020 in a 5k race. Completely my fault because I tried to start where I ended, and at that time I hadn't run in 6months. I also ran without training or stretching. Well I couldn't run outside on the pavement so I was relegated to the treadmill. Well yesterday was my first outdoor run since my injury. I used the saucony endorphin speed. It feels great. Now I want a shoe to alternate with the endorphin speed. I think the Edge may be it. Thanks for your review.

Just over10 years ago when Hoka started its venture here in France people were questioning its philosophy and mocking it. 10 years later people give the same comments. People never learn. People don't like change. The proof especially at the moment is all around us !

They must be good for longer miles as technique wears down. Also for up and downhill running. And walking as everyone strikes with his heels when walking. Also for beginners. And really most people, because most are heel strikers.

QD: My last week of training was great, running about 45 miles over 6 days between 6 30 and 7 00 mins a mile with a fast 9 mile long run. Hoping to run in the mid 16s for xc this year, wish me luck.

That is a great week!! Good job! I feel the same way with training for XC, I have talked about it on my KZbin channel before, but I really hope there will be a season!!

QD: took a couple down days after an achilles flare up, but finished it off with a really solid track workout so it was a good week.

QD: Last week I upped it a bit to 60 miles...10 more than my usual 50. Some slight niggles with my left achilles but I usually manage it. Seems to be better with my switch to barefoot - near zero-drop shoes.

I feel like if anyone is a heal striker they should transition into a forefoot strike. Heal striking will only lead to injurys. QOD had a great week of running. First week back up over 70 miles. Two virtual runs. One of which was 18:28 5k.

Seth at some point can you make a video on what your all around favorite road shoe is, and what your all around favorite trail shoe is? Like if you had only one of each to run in forever.

Great week Corey! I have talked about it on my KZbin channel, but my legs have definitely felt tired due to building the mileage. Keep it up!

QD: My last week went pretty good. I hit my highest week of mileage (91) and went on vacation with a teammate where we went on some pretty cool trails, which being from the suburbs where we run on streets, I was not used to, so I feel tired but fine overall.

QD - 58 miles last week (including 1 workout and 1 long run) = Happy days! I am a big HOKA fan but this shoe never looked right to me. I'll stick with my Clifton 6's for now. Cheers Seth!

QD: How did you know? I have been dealing with runner's knee since the end of May. Only ran once in June after 3 weeks off and still had pain. I've been stretching and bought a slant box. Planning on trying to start out slow again when July hits. My next race (that hasn't been cancelled) is not until the late fall (50 miles) so I'm not stressing yet.

QD: vacation week so I had more time in the morning a to run on beach 🏖 so put in extra miles. Races are rescheduling so gotta put in the work to be ready for November, Nashville marathon. No shin splints, right ankle a little tight from turning it on some down hill trail running. Got the FKT tho 🤠🇺🇸👍
