The shoe is out in the shops in Singapore where I am. I just got the Clifton Edge a week ago and have ran only 27km in it so far and out of which are wet tarmac surfaces and glad to mention they provide a good grip and even on downhills it gave me the confidence and no worries on slipping. Good cushioning on the heel and responsive. Gonna use them for a personal 10 hour, 15 x uphill/downhill slope this Saturday! 💪🙂

I've run Saucony for years. Just switched to Clifton this summer. I have a motocross foot injury from when I was younger that makes my toe go numb on distance runs. It doesn't do that anymore in theses shoes. However, I'm constantly redoing the laces as the upper isn't very comfortable.

Hey Sage! Would be interesting to see a video where you talk about how you use your watch in training and racing. I've been reading a lot of articles from old-school coaches/runners (and some younger ones) who are very opposed to GPS watches. They say it's better to learn to rely on internal feedback (feel/effort) rather than external, and also you shouldn't try to keep a single pace or HR because it might go up or down based on how you're feeling, elevation, etc. (as well as device inaccuracies). Any thoughts on the pros and cons? I can see both sides.

Thanks Sage, love the talk of shoes. I've always worn asics kayano but recently wanted to swap as they felt flat, were getting worn after 400km and got suggested brooks adrenaline by a running company store due to my pronated foot. Now while I pronate on landing I have a medium arch but my biggest issue in running in kayanos was I got blisters and lots of wear on the head of my 5th metatarsal as that was where i land before rolling in. I've began some strengthening of my fibularis eversion muscles to help my foot from supinating during the leg swing phase of gait which i believe causes me to land on the supinated position before I then roll inwards. I have done some research into this and I struggle to understand why I am seen as a pronator when none of my wear is on the medial aspect of the shoe. My brooks are already showing wear on the outside after 60km of running on road and I am unsure what to do as most shoes are meant to last 500km. I have started a rotation with saucony iso ride 2s which are great and lighter than the kayanos and brooks but the brooks feel a lot nicer underfoot. I was reccomended mizuno I assume waverider? but I preferred the feel of the brooks. I also have a pair of boston 8s coming as I wanted a lighter shoe for race workouts as I prepare for a marathon. I was wondering what your take might be on my situation and how to solve my foot landing issue or a shoe which may at least get more wear through it before losing all its rubber sole and have tears in the lateral forefoot mesh. Appreciate your work heaps sage and have been loving your advice.

Hi Sage. Barefoot runners are always talking about cushioned shoes and how they mess up your feet. You have been running for a long time and use really cushioned shoes. Have you had any injuries, maybe due to the shoes you wear? Could you please make a video to talk about your experiences?

I'm guessing the heel almost works a bit lite a keel on a boat. Or support wheels for when you learn to bicycle! Either way, look like a very interesting shoe. Saw some guy run in it the other day, and it's not yet release in my country so he must have been a sponsored athlete or maybe a shoe store worker with early access?

Sage with your shoes experience and you having ran the roads of Kathmandu, would you recommend the Clifton Edge for the type of terrain here?
@Vo2maxProductions4 жыл бұрын
maybe not. You could almost use a trail shoe like the Torrent (or at least something for the uneven rocks/dirt on the roads). The Clifton edge is for sure more for smooth pavement (level and uniform roads). A Clifton 6 might be better as well.

@@linosganzerla8252 anyone have the issue of rincon insoles coming unstuck and riding up? I swapped mine out for a pair from some old atr 4s and all good 👍 Current rotation: rincon, atr5, speedgoat3 and torrent1 😎 The standard hoka was the clifton and the only consideration on adjusting from another shoe would be to consider the stack height. However I agree rincon is now a goto shoe. It has almost as much cush, is lighter, very breathable (cliftons can get water logged over a longer run but there's no fabric on a rincon so it just doesn't happen. ATRs still a great bet for mixed road and trail though. Rincon ATR 😍😍😍 Make it happen sage! 🙌

It'll ease the shock when running downhill... fore foot striking is quite difficult on downhill
@Vo2maxProductions4 жыл бұрын
Most people (including myself) are heel strikers. That being said on a downhill contact happens more near the back often. Other than that I'd admit that a lot of the very back part of the heel is probably more for looks/aesthetics. It rides smooth!
@sebulban4 жыл бұрын
Vo2maxProductions well I guess the striking position is related to speed. I have been thought that people are fore foot runners and heel walkers. Depending on the speed you’ll drop somewhere between..
@RowOfMushyTiT4 жыл бұрын
@@sebulban Hoka is definitely more a mid to heel striker shoes maily cuz of the rocker (except some models like carbon rocket). And most people are indeed heel strikers. Vaporflys those are more forefoot striking shoes and the carbon plate keeps you on your toes more effortlessly.
@cordeiropedro4 жыл бұрын
Look at the Vaporfly heal. Does that also look ridiculous? Do you known when Nike was developing one of their Vaporfly’s they removed a lot of the heal cushion to lose weight. All their top athletes that tested the shoe complained and ask to have the cushion back. (You can read about it on the web)I am also a front/mid foot striker but in real Long runs sooner or later you will start landing a bit behind.
