Oh my God, Alone, you are soooo sweeet! 🙏💙❤I was sick in bed for a few days and I just saw your video and I'm so immensely grateful for your sharing of my humble creations and YT channel! You had me all teary eyed and really made my day (my year fro that matter)! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the cards and that my humble reflections about life choices actually resonated with you! I did not even know you watched my channel! From the bottom of my heart, all my gratitude! I am so deeply touched! I love this video, Alone, those snowy landscapes are simply amazing and you have really put me in the holiday season joy! I'm so sorry about your allergies and I never would have guessed you had a speech impediment because to me you speak so fluidly and I never would have guessed you are shy also! You look so confident and at ease. I love when you share more about yourself and I really connect and resonate with what you share and who you are! I love the REAL YOU! 😊❤

Abigaelle! I am so sorry you have been sick! After what I just went through, doesn't feeling better just make you feel so alive again! I had watched your channel a bit back when you sent me the cards but over a month ago you had posted the "Coming out of a dark night of the soul" video and it really got to me! "One just has to have humor about life or were just not going to make it" SPOT ON! Now I may not understand all the terms you use but I will learn them I am sure as I watch more of your library of videos. And lets face it, ANY friend of Moose has got to be a great person! My daughter speaks fluent French. I know this because she would talk to me in French when she was mad at me But I think your book BLEU would be a great gift for her! I know I don't have to tell you this but keep doing what you are doing! You are so creative and oh how I wish I could take a ceramic class of yours!! Oh yeah I am a shy person. I had to overcome a lot of that when I was in middle management for the Fortune 50 company I worked for. Training and presentations. So I can sound very authoritative in a room full of Directors and VP's but drop me into a party and I'm the gal hanging out with the potted plant in the back of the room. My speech impediment was mostly cured with my speech therapy in grade school but I do tend to get tongue tied or trip over words easier than most. What you see in my videos is the real deal though. Even when I do the skits! Anyway Abigaelle, you take care! Keep making videos! Keep true to your creative self and all will be good!

@@AloneinRemoteAlaska I'm so glad you resonate with my humble channel and creations, Alone. I feel honored in that way and I thank you so very much. I feel blessed from your kind support! I would not want to mislead you in any way, but I'm just learning at a beginners level in pottery/ceramics (I don't offer classes yet but one day perhaps). That is so cool that your daughter speaks French! Thank you for sharing more about your journey with the speech impediment and how you were able to overcome it. I think it is very brave of you to have a YT channel and I think you are doing an absolutely terrific job at it! I just love your channel and videos so much! I know you are the real deal and that is why I appreciate you so much. There is no BS with you! That is often rare and it is precious. Thank you for being all that you are and do, you are an incredible woman, Alone! Big hugs and high vibes your way 🙏💙

As you were talking about Abigail and her lovely cards I couldn’t take my eyes off of two things: that new brown door fit nicely into the wall-a tight fit installation for sure. And then what I noticed were the walls where I believe you removed the old paneling and bared the beautiful log faces. Anywho, in the midst of winter those of us who have lived in drafty cabins can appreciated an air-tight outside door. Happy Holidays & thanks for vlog. As I have mentioned earlier I plan on returning to live in Alaska (2023). This summer will be my 10th time driving the ALCAN, every mile through beautiful Canada is a slow drum roll to arriving in my favorite place on earth.

Thank you for sharing some personal things about yourself and I could tell it wasn't so easy for you. Our snow has retreated into Canada, so now I can begin to get back to the never ending chore of stove wood. But as you said, it's what I chose for my "golden years" and no regret. The compensation is looking out my front picture window, while sitting in my easy chair, ( probably working on a hand craft, which I have time for in the snow moons ) and watching four bald eagles, two adults, and their fledglings in a cedar snag on my neighbor's property, looking towards the snow covered mountains in that direction. I'm surrounded by mountains, since I live a quarter mile from the Skagit River. We share the fishing, and gardening interest and I'm looking forward to next Autumns bi-annual Pink Salmon run in the river. I worked as a halibut fisherman in the Bering Sea and the Gulf, some years back, so I'm kinda familiar with Alaska and it's waters. I wish you a Merry Christmas. The most that I do for decorating for the season is stringing lights to a Blue Spruce I planted adjacent to the house, topping it with a star, and calling it done. All my kids are grown, and grandson, as well, and the siblings and previous generation have passed on, so not much sense in working up a sweat over it. 🙂

It is amazing to wake up every morning to all this scenery! And wildlife! When I first started this channel I never realized how difficult it was to get subscribers. I'd post a video and after a week or two I remember one video sitting at 99 views. I called my son and asked him to watch my video so I could finally have one video over 100 views. I was so excited to see that. So helping other KZbinrs in any way I can was a mission of mine. There are channels that help their buddies get subscribers, boyfriends who help their girlfriends start their own channels but not so much just a channel helping a channel for no reason. Complete strangers. I would have LOVED to hear someone say my channel name back when I first started. I like doing shout outs to viewers too!

My wife, Barb and I are getting closer to being caught up to your latest posting. We could have spent one whole day watching, but we like catching up a few episodes at a time. We're really impressed with what you have done with the cabin remodeling. The place is looking great! Your contractor has done an awesome job. I remember watching , "Building in Alaska"(one of my favorite shows) and how Erin(I think that this was his name) helped his father build their family cabin. Your editing skills are awesome, and along with the content, the videos are very enjoyable to watch. We're working on getting caught up to your latest video posting. We love the beauty of Alaska that you capture in your photography. Do you have a drone? The views recorded that way have been awesome. I'm a dog lover and Kenai is a beautiful one!! Hello Robert and Barb! I would suggest you only watch a few videos at a time! I may start getting on your nerves! 🤭 My contractor is amazing and I am lucky to have found him! He definitely does the work like its his own cabin! Nothing is done "good enough". It has to be as perfect as he can get it! A true craftsman. He and I are feverishly texting back and forth to finalize this years projects list but my cabin will go through many more changes in the coming years! There is just SO much that I want to get done! Episode 39 is where I interviewed Aaron and you can just tell he is a down to earth awesome guy! I really hope he returns this year. But he is a busy and "in high demand" craftsman so we will see. Aaron was the one who gave me some drone shots and the rest I get from a paid online service or I find them on Creative Commons. But they are all Alaska. I do not own a drone yet.😉 And thank you for the compliments about my editing. I just learned how to edit when I started this channel so it's pretty obvious how the channel has changed the better I get. I sometimes take my editing and music matching too seriously and tend to be a perfectionist. But I want to make the best videos I can for you! Kenai is my buddy here! Wherever I go, he goes! He is almost never without me and he is a spoiled brat! I talk to him all the time and he pretends to listen to me. Pretty sure all he hears is "TREAT" or "BISCUIT" or "COOKIE"🤣 It is an honor to have you and Barb on my journey here! Thank you so much! 🤗🧡 I see I missed a couple of previous comments from you and I apologize for that!

You are one more connection that we have with Alaska. We loved our past four visits since 2016 and planning the next in 2024-possibly for a month or more. Take care. All the best! P.S. check out the drone used by Eric and Arielle in Simple Living Alaska. I'm sure you've viewed their website. I like wearing tights n boots in winter with wool skirts, it’s warm! Again, don’t feel so restricted in movement. You might end up doing your own clothing line one day! You never know… I always wanted to do a line of vintage nightgowns. Use old buttons and old or reproduction lace etc . Maybe hand embroidery etc. nice cotton or linen. The sky is the limit! I have a forest on my doorstep and if I want snow then I can go up the mountain where you can go skiing, I go for the scenery. This island is small enough that in the winter you can go skiing in the morning then spend the afternoon on the beach.

Yeah no matter what the challenges are that may come up, it's just worth figuring it out and making it work! When you work for yourself, the effort is not only worth it, it makes you push yourself harder. But I don't have to tell you that! Look at that gorgeous property your are making every day there!

My wife and I have passionately talked about retiring to Alaska and that is what drew us to your channel. My wife is currently wearing the golden handcuffs and there is not a day that goes by that she does not say."Can I quit my job". She commutes in heavy traffic to and from work then works at home another 20 to 30 hours each week. Your Apple Fritters were a delight and a highlight of this weekend THANK YOU. You are constantly hitting that "sweet spot" and you might be alone in Alaska but we are with you there in spirit. My wife could be your sister or even your cousin because you both share similar characteristics and interests. We look forward each week to your next video.

@@AloneinRemoteAlaska thank you! It will be a little different this year-I fell 11/1/22, broke my hip, and had to have a complete hip replacement. I'm doing well (they say), but am still in a lot of pain. I am, however, walking now without a walker or cane, and driving again. I still have quite a bit of physical therapy still to go, but I will get there!

No property taxes is not all of Alaska but it is the further you get from the cities. It was mandatory for me when I was looking for a cabin. Property taxes = building codes and permit! NO thank you! And Merry Christmas to you as well Mariko!

I actually joined in and had a few sips along with you! I don't generally drink alcohol, but I am alone in my "shabin" (shed turned into a small cabin) and I have some hand sewing to do so I turned youtube on. I appreciate you sharing and being you. Thanks!

Hello Alone! Speaking for myself, I enjoy your videos because, and I hope you take this as a compliment, you are a character! Then, to top that, you seem to be a very genuine person who cares about others and is very generous with the knowledge and skills, or life lessons, that you are developing up there. Have a wonderful and safe holiday season to you and your pup!:)

Hello AIRA! So... I guess that means you're not bringing me your Apple Fritters? DAMN! And you were blunt about it and put it right in the title! Probably better this way. For some reason, my wife would get Jealous. Mostly because of your independence and problem solving skills. But I'm sure other factors will get piled on! LOL But SHE never made me apple fritters! So.... Having BOUNDARIES is one of the MAIN pillars of self esteem, and offers the CHOICE to pursue what might be the most quality life decisions, complete with self INTEREST Satisfaction. The only real value kind! Like you, and nailing new dishes, I found using some Nutmeg and sometimes Cinnamon, when trying to make Greek food, is many times the magic ingredient! Enjoy the sleigh ride. Good Egg Nog with a nice Rum (Motu) and spices to YOU! Now where the hell am I gonna get some APPLE FRITTERS? LOL.

Beautiful scenery, especially the snow bunny. You could be a snow maiden : ) I worry for you. That a bear could come out of nowhere when you are outside or break through a window in your home. Are you ever scared?
@AloneinRemoteAlaska
@AloneinRemoteAlaska Жыл бұрын
Ahhh thank you kindly Sandra! I do love the snow!🤗 I don't have to worry about bears so much in winter since they are hibernating but a winter bear is even more dangerous. They tend to get very grumpy if they have to wake up early. Yes I do worry about bears all the time and especially the moose! But the two previous owners I have spoken to have said a bear has never even attempted a break in. I see them on my security cameras but they usually stay away. Probably because they can smell Kenai! Because I took a bath, I swear! 🤭🧡

Spectacular scenery! I have to agree with your analysis of the work life. Really like the term golden handcuffs. We are slaves to the system. Promises of the greatest opportunities and yet we are enslaved by the perpetual work and no relief for body and mind. Retirement for most is a pipe dream. I would rather work myself to the bone, for myself and fail than to be enslaved by the system with empty promises of a grand future that will never be realized. Really enjoyed this episode. Stay safe!

Yeah that's it in a nutshell right!? Work hard for someone else's dream! I certainly do not miss the constant back stabbing of the corporate world. I was a different person in the corporate setting though! Fake smiles, fake interest in their "First World Problems" and everything is so "easy". Yeah everything is easy when you aren't the one doing the work buddy! I am glad you enjoyed the episode Ashley! Someday Ashley in Alaska KZbin channel!
