With my weight, I think I need a stiffer spring after checking my SAG dimensions. I 5.0, and will have to get back to it another day. #ktm #motorcycles #motocross

Hey man, got the same bike. Looks awesome with the pipe/silencer. I’m 205 and I went to a stiffer spring right away. Went with 4.8 KG/MM spring from Slavens and set the sag right away I suggest going with a similar rate. Also I know the manual says to take the shock out when adjusting the preload I don’t see any need it’s much easier to fine tune adjustments with the shock still in the bike.

Have fun. I’m about to get back on and go riding the forest this summer. (It’s been wet so it’s been closed)

You must set Rider Sag before Static Sag. Static Sag basically measures how much Preload you have to put on the Spring to Support your Weight. If you have to use too much Preload to get the Rider Sag, the Static Sag will be Low, and you need a Heavier Spring.

Thank you!! I will follow this. Hopefully I get it right. It’s frustrating that the owner’s manual has the static SAG first.

Are you sure it makes any difference? Lets say you set static sag at 35 that its should be and then measure your rider sag. If rider sag is too much then you need stiffer spring. Ofcourse you could go crank up the preload, get the rider sag to be correct and then measure static sag. But its pretty clear that if initially the static sag was correct then after cranking up the preload its going to be too small.
