Mira, Mira, my beautiful friend, this is my favorite video of yours, not because it features me😜, but because it shows just how far you have come! I love how you pieced together all the different times you worked in your spare room and how you are getting a little better each time. You are the perfect example of what can be accomplished just a little at a time and the importance of being vulnerable and asking for help where you need it. You have the best way of talking about some of your struggles and how you are overcoming them, that sometimes you slip back, but ultimately keep moving forward. I'm so proud to call you my friend and can't wait to tackle "future you" projects with you again soon.😘

One thing I try to remind myself, when letting go of past or unrealized versions of me. Clearing away the accessories for those versions creates room for new potentials. Look at how much you have grown since you made the one decision to change. You have changed your space, inside your home and inside yourself. You have made new friends. You have inspired so many. This is life. You are living.

I did a similar travel thing but with postcards, then I realized a few years ago that I had spent decades collecting them and was just keeping them in boxes. I made a goal to send a postcard to at least one person a week so I could use those up and they could bring happiness to others. It's been really fun - especially when I could send it to someone I went on that trip with and write down a memory on it.

Mira, for me this is one of your most inspiring videos yet. I love hearing you talk through your thought process - it helps me clarify my own thinking as I work to declutter and pare down. I recently gave myself permission to not finish a counted cross stitch project that I began last winter but bought 35 years ago. I didn’t enjoy working on it like I used to in my 20’s and 30’s, and I had a very hard time with it visually now that I’m 60. The money was lost the moment I wrote the check to pay for it and I just have to accept that. While I made the decision to let it go weeks ago, it’s still sitting on the dresser. Today, it will be part of my August declutter game. Thank you for giving me strength. You are the kind of person I would love to have as a friend. ❤❤❤

A huge transformation. But the real question reamins do you have more books or t-shirts? Haha Hope you are laughing too!!!

Love, love, love this video! What a magnificent transformation!You're my hero! I cannot express how strong you are and how much you have inspired me, and will continue to inspire me. I had an epiphany when you mentioned notebooks. I recognised myself in your description of why you collected them. And then you decluttered 20 of them! I am still not as strong as you when it comes to notebooks. But I have made a lot of progress this summer with emptying the attic, going through my clothes twice, tidying up my bedroom and tidying up my tiny craft room. I am now tackling the kitchen, one cupboard at a time. You have taught me to work on small spaces and get them done. Thank you and I look forward to more videos. I have watched all of them! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Mira, I think you have a realistic and healthy approach of how to "get rid of things." It doesn't have to go all at once, but you also attack the easy stuff first, give thought to "maybe" items, and revisit. That is a great approach. Just like anything in life, it takes time and commitment. So glad Bonnie got to help you again. :)

I will have the pictures though. 🙂 Yes, he is so funny! 😂😊

Many year ago my parents had a wood pile in the back of their garden. It was in the way and it had to be split to fit in the furnace, but to my dad it was a daunting task. One day my mom took two pieces of wood and gave them to my dad for him to split it. She did that every day. To begin with it didn't look as if anything happened, after a couple of years they came down to quite a few pieces that HAD BEEN SPLIT. So it was all brought up to the furnace and suddenly they had a nice patch of grass at the back of the garden. And no more an eye sore. I guess it's about the same as Mack's 3 by 3 rule.

I have to relay a funny book decluttering story. I went through our fiction books about 3 months ago and got rid of quite a few of mine. Last week i was thinking about that shelf and thinking i have to get rid of more. Dragged over the step ladder, climbed up and realised I'D ALREADY GOTTEN RID OF the ones i was thinking of donating 😂😂 I've kept Diana Gabaldon, Tokien, Anne of Green Gables and Shakespeare. Love my Shakespeare too! There was a theatre company in my home town called the Bell Shakespeare Company. They would come to school and do scenes out of various plays, it was brilliant. We understand re the awkward angles. I've thought i should have filmed my decluttering but honestly thr decluttering itself is as much as in an handle, never mind working whilst thinking of angles the whole time. So thank you for filiming it anyway. We see enough. And your voice overs are engaging and entertaining , im mostly thinking about what you're saying and just giving my eyes something to rest on. And waiting for cute pup cameos!

Mira!! I like your analogy about letting go of a former part of life. I think you hit the nail on the head there for all of us… We don’t want to change and/or get old. I want to still enjoy things I did in my 30’s but I have to face the reality that my world is different now, and I must adjust. I’m stubborn sometimes, but I love the ability to get around my home without tripping. I like Star Trek original series- I’m nerdy too and proud of that lol. I’m learning how to make my life work, and limiting my junk heaps to things that truly bring me joy. Everything else is just getting in the way of a happy life. ❤️. Sending love and best wishes to you. Darla

a few years ago, I started using note books as daily planners. I just write in the days of the year and that's where I make my to do lists, shopping lists, keep all my notes. anything important, I transfer at the end of the year into the new book, and (this is key, here) GET RID OF THE OLD ONE. you can add stickers, post its, whatever as you go along, but know that at the end of the year, it's all going.
@denisesmelley85464 ай бұрын
I use my old, barely used planners that way. I just strike through the date and start a fresh day! Since it’s mostly just for organizing my brain as I go through a particular day, all the fancy stuff doesn’t matter much.

You are doing such a great job! I told you early on in your journey that as you went back through the items you kept a second and third time you would decide to let go of more. I do that. I notice you didn’t discuss your pro wrestling career when you talked about your background, but Mack let us know. 😉 I liked that you explained about your attachment to books and why. It makes sense. Sometimes I feel we just need a little more from everyone so things make sense. I am a why girl about everything. You are not only helping yourself with your channel, but you are showing others it is possible. And this collaboration was great! I follow all of you. It can help those of us with family and friends approach this situation differently so we are allowed to help and hopefully help with more patience and understanding. ❤

Hi Mira, I'll be 75 soon. 3 of us live in a 2BR apartment. All my crafting supplies fit in a small bookcase and under my bed. I was getting rid of 20-25 items each day. Now, I'm getting rid of more stuff. Clothes and tchotchkes go out every week, hobby stuff goes to other crafters. I take books out of the library, I only have 2 shelves of books and magazines. I get craft supplies second-hand or free. Tina, Al's wife

I think it's a very good sign that more and more free spaces are popping up in the after pictures. Normally, you aim to have a little bit of spare room for something new to come in, I think it's the ideal balance when you have just a little bit more room so it doesn't fill up immediately again and you have some room to shift things around. Also I'm very impressed with how far you have come from basically keeping everything to just freeing up your space to be happy and comfortable in! You have come a long way and it shows.

What a great collaboration among the three of you! Mira, you continue to be an inspiration to me. This past week I tackled the worst cupboard in my kitchen - the spice/herb cupboard - with the help of a friend. What was once a three shelf cupboard crammed to the point I could barely close the doors (we found six bottles of ground cinnamon!) is now a thing of beauty and pleasure. One shelf is full of my spices and herbs all in labelled containers in a nice rack. Excess is stacked behind out of sight. There is a pullout container for oils and vinegars to one side of the spice rack and another with salts and peppers on the other. I can see everything at a glance! The next shelf up has three measuring cups and that’s it! The top shelf has nothing. I can’t stop opening it up to gaze at it in admiration - everything has its place. I empathize with you and your feeling of reaching a point beyond which you know anything will be too much. Knowing when to stop is a large part of the process. It takes time to absorb and adapt to the changes. And I totally agree that having a friend or two to help in just the way you described is essential to the process - I find when I am decluttering on my own I can dither until no decision is made. You are doing so well and I can see and hear and feel the progress you have made since I started watching you last summer. So proud of and happy for you! Give that little Houdini a Pat for me, please, and Clay as well! Hugs and respect from Calgary!
