Yes it’s a good idea if you use the levels, obviously I would have to take out most of the bedding fist so the tray could actually slide out, but is definitely helpful just to slide out clean and slide back in again!

I’ve seen so many little burrow hole that he’s made which is amazing, because when I first adopted him he didn’t like burrowing and was really nervous and I’m so happy to have been able to give him the space/home he deserves, and being able to watch him become more confident and see his true personality is very rewarding. Found this when researching the Pawhut cage. I love how you have set it up and I think I'm going to buy one. I like what you did with the lollypop sticks to make the barrier. Can I ask what glue did you use, as I want to make sure it's safe for my future furbaby. Thanks
@Graces_life
@Graces_life 2 жыл бұрын
Cool, I would definitely recommend the pawhut cage. It took a couple of hours to make the barrier on both levels but I love the way it looks and made sure he wouldn’t jump off of the level! Since my hamster doesn’t chew much I was able to use a little bit of non toxic glue and wiped off any extra glue, but if you’re worried about your hamster chewing you can use child safe glue that’s made out of things that is safe in case they chew it, I think erinsanimals channel talks about safe glues in a video where she made a wheel out of lollipop sticks. Hope this helps, and thank you for watching!

It took a long time for me to create the border along the shelving to prevent my hamster from falling off it. I don’t use them like that now but have instead cut them into the different sized pieces I need and added stilts to make the shelves into platforms which are much easier to use and more helpful for me. Either way it is great that you have got your hamster an amazing sized cage so thank you so much for researching and providing your pet with proper care x

My hamster Rufus used to do that a lot for months but just keep offering treats or if he won’t accept treats just yet speak softly whilst he eats his food if possible or just when you’re around his cage. Eventually he should hopefully begin to come around to you, as mine did (it still took over 1yr till he first sat on my bare hand without nipping or running straight off and now at just over 2 years old he is sooo sweet, so it is worth the wait). Some do require more time and patience to trust but keep going 💕🐹

I’m thinking of getting this cage for my new lil hamster I’ve only had him 3 days so I don’t know if he’s a chewer yet . But do you think it something’s you can outline the cage with to stop a hamster from chewing that you suggest ?
@Graces_life
@Graces_life 2 жыл бұрын
When I got my current Syrian hamster (Lenny) I wasn’t sure if he was a big chewer so I covered the pieces of wood that stick up (the edges of the tray) with cardboard. He did chew those pieces at first so I replaced them with more cardboard but he has done no damage to the wood which is great! So I would recommend doing that if you aren’t sure, also make sure you get some wood protector stuff (I got mine off of Amazon) so that if they pee on the wood it won’t damage it. Hope this helps :)

Hi what size wheel is it? Did I put it on something to support it? Was it hard to fit in the cage? Thanks x
@Graces_life
@Graces_life 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a 28cm trixie wheel (11 inch wheel). I put it on the first level and put bedding over the wheel stand to keep it secure/less wobbly in this video. And it was pretty easy to fit in, it’s obviously a lot easier to fit if you don’t have the levels/platforms in (there’s a more recent video I made that shows a setup without the levels in if you’re interested). No problem :)

Could you write me a list of what products to buy? Like the bedding and stuff I’m getting this cage today
@Graces_life
@Graces_life 2 жыл бұрын
Ok sure! -bedding ( paper based is probably the best bedding in my opinion so carefresh or kaytee clean and cosy, the non-scented version, are good choices) make sure to get enough to fill the cage and that at least one section has over 8 inches of bedding depth since they are burrowing animals! -wheel (solid running wheels only (no wire or mesh as these cause bumble foot) if you’re getting a Syrian go for a 11-13 inch wheel, if you’re getting a dwarf get a wheel that’s at least 8 or 9 inches) Niteangel is a great brand to get a wheel from, although it is a bit more pricey. -sand bath (you can buy reptile sand that has NO dyes or calcium added, and put it in a decent sized container or section part of the cage off like I did in my latest video) -hides (a chamber hide is a good choice, as well as different tunnels and other wooden/natural hides they can go in and out) -chews (their teeth never stop growing so provide them with a variety of chews such as, things made out of willow and other safe woods, sea grass and a whimzee chew is always a hamster favourite which you will find in the dog treat section of pet shops). -water bowl or bottle (personally I use a bowl, which is just a glass tea light holder, in this particular cage as it’s much easier to have in the cage) -Food (if you’re from the UK rat rations usually has a good mix for Syrian hamsters and dwarfs but I think they’re currently out of stock, so go for a high variety food that has about 3-6% fat and 15% protein, so just look around see which food looks the best try and avoid ones with lots of fillers foods/ pellets) -Playpen (you can get either a wire playpen or a pop-up fabric playpen which are pretty easy to find on Amazon, make sure to have extra hides etc to put into the playpen when they are out) I would recommend watching Victoria Reachel’s channel if you don’t already as she has lots of videos that you might be interested in. I think that’s all you need to get, if you want to ask anymore questions about hamsters feel free to and I’ll try and answer it as soon as I can. And good luck with getting your new hamster :)

hight is bas for hamsters. An Aquarium would be better because you can put more litter in it, where they can burrow, because hamsters are burrow animals. :)

@@Graces_life First of all I want you to know that I am very haapy that you try to make your cage as safe as possible. I love this! I dont know were you life, so I can only speak for my country. In germany an Aquarium (or "Nagarium") in a decent size is often in the same pricerange as a cage like yours. Or you can use someting like an Ikea Detolf if you DIY a lid or you can DIY your own Cage if you are good at building (Most likely the least expencive). ☺ I thought you just fill the drawer with bedding (looked not very deep to me I am sorry) like most ppl would with a cage like this. 😄
