I don't normally add foil to the wavy side. But, If you want it more even, use 1/4" foil, adjust the foiler to give that side a little more foil. Then with a exacto knife cut it even... Hope that helps!

Hi Ed, are you going to do a video on setting the foiler up without the little cutting thingie, as mine doesn't have one. I bought it from a lovely lady in America and paid to have it shipped to the UK. Very hard to get the foil dead central without trial and error. Thanks, Mo

I have one of these and mostly I like it, BUT it has the extremely irritating tendency for the wing nut to turn while I am foiling a piece of glass. Sometimes I can see it moving as the wheel beneath it turns, and other times i accidentally knock it as I am using the top surface to burnish the glass. I tried adding a washer under the nut, and that helps but not completely. I'd really appreciate any suggestions for a remedy. I'm considering a dab of Locktite on the wing nut thread, (when I actually remember to buy some whilst shopping!)

I have not had that problem. I'm thinking maybe the spring is pushing up too hard? I don't think I would Locktite it since the wingnut is plastic. Maybe rub some candle wax on the bottom of the nut. I hope that helps! Eric

@@eallen62 maybe replace the wing nut with a metal nut? i'm going to try that next. it really is infuriating. `I'll be running a piece of glass through the thing and as the glass is moving, I can see the wing nut slowly turning also, maybe a quarter turn on a small piece of glass. It's odd that I seem to be unique in this respect. I like the device otherwise, and i don't think it had this problem when I first bought it.

@@eallen62 I bought it about 5 or 6ish years ago but it has not been in use all that time because I stopped glass working for the last 5ish years. It is no where as used as the one you use in your vids.

I just got one of these foilers and I was wondering if you have had any problems with it folding the already applied foil back off of the glass as you rotate the piece around? It's happened several times for me now and I have to redo it. It also seems to fold the corners down in a way where it leaves a gap in the foil line. Am I doing something incorrectly? Thank you for your videos, they have been very informative.

It happens when you are not applying enough force against the glass for the foil to stick and fold. Make sure you are pushing the glass into the roller. the rubber feet on the machine will keep it from sliding. I also happens with the glass is too large for the 1/8" glass rollers. They do make a wider roller that will accommodate up to 1/4" thick glass. I hope this Helps!

The maker of the Table Top Foiler KMC, has informed me "Unfortunately we no longer offer the Magic Cutter. Our tooling has issues, and we do not sell enough to fix the tooling. It may come back, but not right now." I will make a sequel to this video on how to set it up without the Magic Cutter soon.
