@@whateverreally1347 my theory is, it never says who Peggy's husband is so maybe the whole time it was Captain America. When he went back to the past he stayed, changing the timeline, but just a little because he allowed everything to happen the way it did so that he didn't mess up the fact that he was able to go back in the first place. Going to the past doesn't change the present because he was always there twice. He always went to the past in 2023 and always married Peggy, he just made sure to keep things on the DL so that when he comes out of the ice, and everything unfolds, he can still go back in time.

He had no scene of his own, all his scenes were in service to exposition and in a group of other avengers you supposedly care about more. In this scenario there are consequences for time traveler, the ancient one explains it. They are borrowing infinity stones from a different reality that they’ve created by intervening in that timeline. The consequence of not returning the stones or Thor’s hammer you would be damaging that realities group of heroes ability to defend their world. I.e. you have a sorcerer supreme in a version of New York with no time stone and a Thor in a version of Asgard with no hammer. The key rule is changing things in the past creates new timelines instead of changing the future.

It would be easy for me to talk about the big moments but my favorite is the scene where Nebula and Tony are playing football on the ship, she wins and Tony says something like "good game, you won fair and square" and shakes her hand, I was so happy for her because she never won anything, she always lost to Gamora so that's why Thanos turned her into a cyborg, but then the look on her face and how Nebula acted in those couple seconds afterwards ripped my heart out and stomped on it because you realize she has no idea how to react to winning, no idea what to do when something good happens to her because nothing ever has, Thanos didn't just take her physical body but took her soul and spirit and didn't even need to use the Soul Stone to do it, systematically chipping away at those things until there was nothing left in Nebula, that was so heart breaking for me to watch her have no clue how to react to winning something and then a getting a kind gesture afterwards, for me that's when they told us who Thanos really is, well done writers and directors, well done

Captain America returned everything back to its original place including thor's hammer because he did not return with it when he turned old. The main question i have is how Thanos died twice. if he was dead in 2014 (because he moved forward in time when came through the time vortex.) and again 2019 when thor killed him. Therefore how does a guy die and continue to live, snaps his fingers killes half of the people and then die again.

As for villains: I think phase four stand alone and team-up movies could feature some new blood, villain-wise, such as Doctor Doom. Then the next "Avengers" could be a new Secret War storyline. You could have just this huge kind of battle royale between heroes and villains. Spiderman could get the symbiote, etc. Another cool villain for at least a stand alone or team-up film could be Super Skrull. It could even be a bridge to the Fantastic Four being reintroduced.

If I had to guest Phase 4 villain(s) I would think Galactus, but over a three part arc were they can introduce the Fanastic Four and maybe the concept of mutants. That way the first two arcs would involve forming a New Avengers to defeat Dr. Doom then Namor or vice versa as baddie during the first two arcs. Which bring you the last arc of Phase 4. Silver Surfer heralding the coming of Galactus. Hopefully by then mutants and X-Men have been introduced alone with the most powerful mutant of all Magento. In a last ditch effort to stave of annihilation from the planet eater. Heroe I.e. The New Avengers, Fanastic Four, X-Men would join forces with the villians I.e. Dr.Doom, Namor and Magento to save the earth.

Bruna Bordoni Janet Van Dyne (Wasp’s mom) literally explains this in the 1st post-credit scene of Ant-Man & the Wasp. Scott Lang was probably trapped in a time vortex, she was not. That’s why Tony Stark creates those devices on their wrists/hands, to avoid aging when in the manipulated Quantum Realm time vortexes

He was about 25 in the first Cap then you add about 13 years from when he woke up and to Endgame so he is 38. He goes back to what looks like the 50s so then you add about 74 years from the 50s to current day so Cap is about 112 years old

The multi-universe concept is messed up here... Present Nebula did not die when young Nebula's dead, because she died in the alternate universe, and by the same logic, we can never see old Captain America. Thor and Hulk were reduced to a joke, was it deliberately done? I think yes, because Infinity War Thor will easily fuck up Thanos and his army... they need to give it to Captain Marvel. In Thor Ragnarok, Odin said lightning comes inside Thor not the hammer, the hammer is just to focus and channel the power. Captain America has lightning inside him now? Many more plot holes, I guess it takes some time for people to notice because everyone is so excited now that they cannot see it objectively.

The time travel thing made perfect sense during banners conversion with the ancient one. She explained it wouldn't affect their reality, but would create basically an alternate reality. And even then it was implied that this was specific to the time stones, not anything in general (although it did appear that captain America returned thors hammer). So unless they decided to make alternate reality movies, OR if they allow other directors to interpret that different, loki is still dead. Personally I prefer it that way. Bringing him back makes it loose meaning and also he's been done to death as a villain and the back and fourth was getting old.

Problem is they were supposed to return the infinity stones to those timelines at the right spots to not fuck up that specific timeline, but let Loki escape with the Tesseract in alternate-2012 and completely fucked alternate-2014 by killing that timeline's Thanos, Nebula, Gamora, and all of Thanos' forces.

Once during the time he spent with peggy and once frozen in ice, eventually having thawed and joined the avengers. It does, however, imply that when he hits on peggys daughter in one of the movies, he might be hitting on his own daughter unknowingly.

Also for all we know, tony sent them back instead of killing them. There is DEFINITELY an alternate 2012 timeline though where loki got away. So they created at least one messed up alternate timeline.

Plus they allowed Loki to escape after the battle of New York in 2012 which would have caused major changes. This was my thought too. The "vanished" have not aged, but those who were left have aged 5 years. So theoretically 1/2 of his high school friends are college-aged now. And the new movie is supposed to take place pretty soon after Endgame. So either they're just going to assume all Peter's friends were vanished, or just say screw it and ignore this plot hole.

He's still in High School. Even though time did go forward 5 years for those that weren't snapped, everyone that was didn't age. So, half of Peter's school wasn't snapped so they did age in the 5 years but for continuity sake, they are just going to have the main cast for Far From Home be part of the snap so they can carry on with the cannon of them being in High School.

Gamora bounced because her team was dead and she didn't know the guardians yet. Also, Tony's snap was to erase Thanos's army from existence. Tony knew that Quill loved gamora so there no way he wanted to kill her too.

I like the idea that the Asgardians (leadership and people) catch a big fat clue after Thor chats with his Mom. They may know that Asgard is doomed to invasion and imminent destruction, but can slip out the back door to alternate timeline Midgard (Earth) and bring not only the forces we see jump in by portal, but also drop off (by other portals) a bunch of the civilians, children, and more than a little care package of Asgardian tech, artifacts, records, and so on to the new location of Asgard on Earth. Basically a lot better planned evacuation. This would give that village and Queen the tools and population to really scale up the new capitol into something a little more in keeping with their deep history of massively high technology/magic. So they wouldn't have to keep slumming along with human made cold weather clothing and limited technology. Maybe enough of a boost to challenge Wakanda's look and feel down the road of other Marvel films. These rules of time travel don't seem to block the idea that they could have done some such preparation. It doesn't have to occur in real time. Lots of things might have happened off screen in arranging those portal forces. Its no more extreme than having the Snap return all those people across the universe five years after they left rather than just cancelling the event and history.

Listening to the podcast, and this video, I think Mallory and Sean don't quite understand the structure of time travel in this movie! This is not to say that it's consistent (it isn't), but its inconsistency isn't in the way that they seem to think (unless I'm misunderstanding). For example, in the podcast they bring up the fact that "so Loki escapes with the Tesseract, but doesn't that mean that he won't be in position to set the events of Infinity War in motion, undoing what happens in the future". There are examples of this in basically all of the time travel scenes, and they're absolutely right. Changing even something small would fundamentally alter the future. But the movie is very explicit that the premise of time travel here is that it doesn't effect your current timeline, it only effects the one you go to. Thus, that is still a valid timeline, but one where future events play out very differently. Sean and Mal keep musing about why changing events in the past don't have surprise compounding effects on the current timeline, but they simply sidestepped the issue by keeping all time lines separate and independent. It gets a bit confusing because of the issue of "returning the Inifinity stones". But the point isn't to return them so that you can pretend like nothing changed (Loki escaping with the Tesseract is a *big change* to history). The point is that the Infinity Stones are fundamentally important to eaach timeline, so just stealing them and not returning them would have damaging universe wide consequences. This is not to say that the time travel defined in the movie fully... works. There's first the obvious issue of just the ethical implications of messing with other timelines. Essentially "removing" a Thanos from a timeline may be beneficial, but what about the timeline where Thor *took his own hammer*, leaving that Thor without one? Could have awful consequences. There isn't a good way to grapple with this, which you have to accept. Then there's the issue of the Captain America bit at the end, which I don't think can be justified given the time travel logic of the rest of the film, but that's a small piece. TLDR: I love Mal and Sean's analysis, but they keep musing about why changing things in the past doesn't change the timeline. It absolutely does, the actions of this film have *huge* effects on the timelines they touch. What the movie says is that "these are all independent timelines", so all these timelines we only glimpse will now evolve differently (and returning the infinity stones is a separate, important issue). That doesn't mean the time travel holds up perfectly, no time travel movie does, and I think there are some parts that don't work here. As another way to put it, Mal says "If we go into the past, Endgame tells us that it will not impact what happens to us in the future, because that future is actually a part of our past". I've only just seen the movie now, but I'm quite sure this *isn't* right. Going into the past doesn't effect the present because the timelines are *separate*. If they went back in time and killed baby Hitler, the base timeline would be unchanged (that's the whole point), but clearly that other timeline would play out very differently. It's not the case that we've already accounted for the time travel shenanigans in the past (otherwise, these characters would remember what happened in their past). Yes, this doesn't hold up with the Captain America scene at the end, but that's just how it is.

skipping number 5 like it was such a small point. I think i won't catch all but: Nebula fckin killing her past verse. Shield destroyed and brought back whole from the past.. Since they arrive at Moraq the whole -past- from guardians of the galaxy 1 and on is changed and couldn't happen the same way as Thanos goes to his future to die before (and after at the same time) he makes his snap. so.. it all just didn't happen........ noone was erased and needed to be brought back

The common theory I’ve seen on the internet is that Cap couldn’t pick up the hammer fully because of the knowledge that Bucky had killed Tony Stark’s parents and he had yet to tell TS in Age of Ultron. Thor who was absent during Civil War doesn’t know that the IM-CA beef in that movie probably absolved Cap of this Character flaw, to then become fully “worthy”. But Thor knows firsthand that “worthiness” isn’t a constant (see Thor 1 movie) therefore when he says “I knew it” he probably just meant that since Cap made Thor’s hammer budge in AoU, that the potential for “worthiness” was always there and as Cap’s good friend he was internally rooting for it to happen

Odin's original enchantment of Mjölnir : "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor" Cap is worthy to hold the hammer, so as long as he is controlling it, he has access to Thor's powers. Also I don't see how Cap going to Vormir is an issue. They showed that their Quantum Realm-fuelled Time Travel machine allows them to pick when and where they show up. All he had to do was enter Vormir's coordinates and 2014, and he'd show up on Vormir and drop the Soul Stone off.
