Prior to purchasing the Tiffin, we almost pulled the trigger on an Airstream trailer. We find them beautiful, and the brand despite being owned by Thor has retained a reputation for quality. The only downside was the cost. They are more than twice the price of comparable travel trailers. No slide outs though.

We really gave Tiffin a look when shopping for a super c. Did not go that route due in part to recent manufacturing quality concerns. However, we have spent the last 4 months getting the bugs worked out on our Renegade. None are perfect, but we do feel like the Renegade is more solid overall. @@halffasttravelers2702 Coaches are like homes-they either feel right or they don’t. For me, with health issues, I need an RV that reduces stress, not adds to it. Reliability is key. You might consider having Lazy Days either put your motorhome outside in the rain or place a sprinkler on the motorhome for a few hours and "TEST" the fix that they performed. I would sure hate to find out on your next trip that it still leaks!! They could "Monitor" while it's raining if any water is coming in. Just a thought.........since you are waiting for floor repairs to be done.
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
Our Rep told us that she was going to pour water on the exterior to ensure there is no further leakage. However, we will not be relying on that. When we go to pick it up we plan on retracting and extending the slide multiple times while testing for leaks with ample water. We will not be accepting the unit until it is proven to be watertight. So sad it has to come to this. We're hoping they get it right, and we can get back out onto the road. Thanks for the advice.

Yes, they are probably going to have to take the whole thing apart. Meanwhile we are without our RV. Hopefully, the cruise will mitigate the distress we are feeling. We separated the channels earlier this year on the recommendation of "Tall Man RV" and after researching the You Tube algorithm. Apparently, having two main focuses confuses the search engine and keeps many from seeing the videos at all. We also weren't certain that RVers would be necessarily interested in our cruising, and vice versa. We left some of the older cruise videos on this channel if you are interested, but for the latest, including our South Pacific cruise, you'll have to check us out over there. Thanks as always for the kind words and support.

I would also add that if your flooring linoleum has buckled, that means the base flooring got soaked. That means the entire floor section needs to be replaced and I am almost certain this is not something a dealership can effectively repair. It should probably go back to the factory. At the end of the day, Tiffin owes you a replacement (new) motor home. I would not settle for anything less, period.

Tiffin is made my Thor Industries. Not exactly a stellar reputation. How much research did you do before buying a Tiffin?
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
Yes, we knew that Tiffin's parent company is Thor, but so is Airstream's. Airstream has been mostly allowed to operate independently, with Thor handling the financing side, and we were hopeful that Tiffin may have been allowed to keep much of its autonomy as well. We did speak to many Tiffin owners who loved their Rvs as well as some who had experienced problems. Of those who had problems, they were mostly happy with the way Tiffin handled the warranty repairs to get them through the first wave of issues that new RV owners experience. This figured heavily into our decision to make this purchase. We firmly believe that no manufacturer is immune to problems in their RVs, and it is the way they handle the resolution of those issues that makes them an "acceptable" brand or not. As we've said before, despite our problems, we are not prepared to write off Tiffin as a "good" brand. We will make our real decision once we see how they handle the warranty work on our coach. Of course, we will let you know the outcome. Thanks for your post.

Just out of curiosity, but if you drop $90K on a camper, shouldn't the dealer or someone complete a quality checklist? If it is missing a wiper seal, shouldn't that have been spotted by someone who has worked around these devices all their professional career? You see this is why I want to avoid all motor-based campers, There is no workmanship on these items. It can be a lowly Dodge Promaster and you will get the run around from all the companies involved. That's why I am leaning towards an ATC camper, It's a pull behind, but there is ZERO wood to get wet and rot, and being a welded aluminum unit, it is less likely to develop mold.
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
You are making some good observations. We're sure there is a checklist, but these rely on the worker doing their job in a near perfect manner, which by the way is what we should expect. And you're not having one, or two, but multiple issues, I mean really? Im curious. Will you try getting rid of it and get a new one?
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
That is a great question. Unfortunately, we do not yet have an answer. We are waiting to see what happens with the repairs before we make any drastic decisions. It could get very interesting soon, when it's time to pick up the RV. Stay tuned...

Didn't Tiffin sell to Thor? sad when a family owned company with a great reputation sells out to a huge company that does not care. Guess Thor is willing to damage the reputation and quality of something they spent 300 million for!
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
Yes they did, but you would think that it would be in their best interest not to meddle in the manufacturing processes of a brand that had been known for its quality. You gotta wonder what they were thinking.

I am so sorry, Dan and Rose. You guys do NOT deserve this at all. No one buying a new rig ought to be subjected to this type of experience. I hope that your repairs are handled expeditiously and completely, and any other yet-to-be-seen issues are addressed. 💙🤍❤️

Anytime there is water damage on a brand new RV, GET YOURN MONEY BACK. You will have mold, rot, roof leaks, etc., etc., etc. I'm a 20 year full time RVr. NEVER buy 2015 or newer RV, they are total inferior quality!!
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
If only it were that easy. Consumers need to be aware that most states do not include the RV "house" in their lemon law statutes. We are reliant upon the manufacturers and dealers to do the right thing. We are in wait and see mode.

This is typical of Thor , shouldn’t ever happen with a Tiffin. We have been looking to get back into RV Market and not sure with all the quality issues I keep seeing.
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
It is definitely a "buyer beware" scenario. It's seems like it's getting harder and harder to find a quality product. Many commenters have posted that we should have bought used instead. Of course, that comes with a completely different set of issues.

You end this video talking about how you are going to review some new RVs for your channel. That will be fun to watch, but I can't believe you continue to look at RVs after the fiasco that is your new RV. I feel so bad for you, as you took a financial hit trading in your last RV, you were so excited about your new RV, and now the new one is a lemon. I also can't believe you had to cancel your trip. Tiffin should have at least given you a loaner until yours was fixed. Personally, I would have demanded my money back and would not accept this RV back when it is "fixed". You have way more patience for these things that I know I would have had given the exorbitant prices of new RVs these days. One other thing, it is clear the manufacturer uses a ton of "goop" to seal the various openings created by things that exit the top of the RV and the slide-outs. I can't believe they do not have manufactured bolted-down fittings with sealing gaskets for these items. Seems half-$ssed construction to me, but I have seen the same from other manufacturers. I am surprised there have not been class-action lawsuits on the poor construction methods of RVs. Hopefully there will be some big lawsuits soon, which will help folks like you that plunk-down nearly $200K on a vehicle that leaks so bad you lose a whole vacation season and does not have enough power to climb hills. A sorry state of affairs. All the best.
@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
Thanks for the well wishes, and kind words. You make some great points about the construction methods for the new RVs. If it appears we are patient, that may be because we did not film the many rants we had during our issues. We choose to spare you from those. We are going to keep making videos about RVs because despite our many issues, we still enjoy the lifestyle. We believe that there are a large number of RVers who feel the same way. However, our future reviews may be a bit more critical now that we have experienced some component & construction failures.
@kqschwarz3 ай бұрын
@@halffasttravelers2702 I didn't really mean you should stop making reviews (I love your reviews, they are very complete and the banter between you and your wife is fun). I only was referring to the fact that you must be reeling from the troubles with your brand new RV and might not be ready to look at "what might have been had you purchased another brand's RV". Of course, there can be teething pains from any new purchase of a complex piece of equipment. I guess my comments reflect my dismay that one could have had so many issues with a piece of equipment that is so pricey. I would have thought water-testing in the factory would be standard practice, especially considering the number of holes they put in the roof and sides of the vehicles, but I guess not. I really hope they get it fixed for you so (1) you two can enjoy your travels and (2) we can enjoy them vicariously through you. All the best.

@halffasttravelers27023 ай бұрын
There are good and bad with buying new and used, One of the real deciding factors was that we really wanted this floor plan. Unfortunately, the previous model years had an unacceptable cargo capacity rating. That left us with a difficult decision.

This is so disturbing,The amount of money that these RVs cost and what you get for your money, is 200,000 + pile of junk, The fact that they only warranty these things for a year and most people barely get a week before its back in the shop with a major issue says all you need to know. The people these companies are now hiring seem to have ZERO skills or training, and give less than that about the product or the people who Buy them, I will never Buy one again I consider myself lucky, the generation before at least took pride in what they built, These companies better get their heads out of their A$$E$ because i don't see people standing for these Junk pushers much longer.

Tiffin has been ruined by Thor. Your unit is permanently damaged. You need a Full Inspection before your Warranty is up! Trade that thing in on a Leisure Travel or Pleasure Way. Stay away from Thor related companies, Forest River, Winnebago, (Grand Design). Bring a Moisture Meter and check the entire unit including the bottom of the repaired Slide. I would bet there is Mold everywhere. Sorry but you should have had an Outside Inspector before this Purchase.Big mistake. Hope it works out!
