Severn Cullis-Suzuki is my number one hero. I'm a 64 year old Swedish handyman and believe it or not, when i for the first time came across Severn Cullis-Suzuki and her speech at Rio Summit 1992, I cried rivers. Not that I was sad, but out of the authenticity, wisdom and beauty of those honest and caring words straight out of her unselfish warm heart. Unfortunately, I'm not the person I once was, when the unfortunate cause of status quo turned out to be a depression, which for a long time I've been forced to struggle with. Thankfully, this has not prevented me from contributing, via the Internet, in my own little way of protecting Mother Earth (Tellus) and its inhabitants. This I do thru the organization ForceChange and Petitions. 2019 here. New York and Miami have been abandoned because of sea level rise. The southwest is locked into permanent drought and people are drinking their own urine to survive. The polar ice caps have long since melted and people must cover themselves to keep from being permanently disfigured by the UV radiation. Birds and other wildlife are just a distant memory. Nothing grows in the poisoned soil, and people fight over rotting vegetables in the market because of the little food that's available. It's a straight up eco-nightmare.

So, Severn is about my age (I was at the age of 11 when she spoke as a 12 year old at the '92 Rio summit), and I wonder if, after all she has done, after so many attempts to raise as much awareness as she did, I truely wonder when she will figure it's all a waste of her precious time. Don't get me wrong, I agree with her like 150% on everything she says, and I can remember seeing her give her speech at the '92 summit (on tv), as I was also interested in the environment and the negative impact mankind has on the environment, at an very early age. But soon I discovered it was futile to try and raise awareness with most people.... Because well, people just don't like to hear they are the root cause of all problems that are occuring. They tend to do like hearing that it was, for instance the people of a far away country, but, honost like I am, I just plainly state it is everybody on the planet, not just one or several countries. Ok but why do I know it is futile to make a change? Well, in order to make that change we humans need to sacrifice way more we are comfortable with... If we really want to make a change, we should first change our own psychology, and get rid of our imaginary borders. Earth is one planet and has no borders. Second we need to get rid of our current monetairy system, and in effect destroy all currency. Let's face it; the sole intention of humans destroying the planet is to make money. Money equals greed equals bad things for earth. There is no oil company who likes to dig up oil, in sometimes the most harsh conditions possible, just for fun. You see, just these 2 things, which are essential for succes, make it very unlikely we will ever succeed. At least in my humble opinion. So instead of trying to make people aware, she better go and spent quality time with family and friends, while it is still possible :(
