Suzanne, I don't know if you will see this post but I wanted to tell you how much I've learned from your channel. You have to be so smart teaching yourself how to sew as beautifully and professionally as you do. You mentioned the book Pattern cutting made easy by Gillian Holmon and so I bought it...OMG it is the most incredible book for pattern cutting I have ever used. I have purchased so many books on pattern cutting and the book by Gillian Holmon is absolutely fantastic. I just finished a bodice block and I can't believe how she breaks everything down so nicely. It truly is pattern cutting made easy. I can't thank you enough for recommending that book. I never would have known about it had it now been for watching you channel. I hope you come back soon. I still binge watch your channel and love it. You are a great teacher.

Lovely! I am becoming more and more drawn to watch your videos, because you generally present interesting ways to address specific projects. I like the idea of making a muck up before the main garment, however if you use the same block as base over and over, you may not require doing it one more time. In this video, you had offered an excellent proposition of a cropped jacket. Enjoy it!

Susanna you are my hero! After viwing your Chanel style video I had to know how you come up with a good pattern. I ve been searching for good patterns, but find them rather overeasy. You are showing tailoring! Thanks. Im in the middle of making my "Chanel" jacket..I have to go back and do it your way after viewing your crisp focus on the details....that always pays off ;). Wish me luck! BTW just how easy you use the little cuisson for quik ironing the sewing seams have already saved me the hassel with the ironing board.

Hi Suzanne, I love your tutorials so clear and informative. ❤️ I am about to start a jacket from the same Diane Deziel dress block, I am going to hopefully use a princess line, and a tailor collar. I think I will order Gillian Holman' book you mentioned as well. Have you any videos in the pipe line which would also help? Thanks for sharing your talents. 🤗

Gosh Suzanne, I'd forgotten what a whiz you are drafting. I kept thinking when you were doing curves, neck, armhole adj, why didn't you use a French Curve? Then you produced your hip curve, used then promptly went back to straight ruler. I have to say, I may have had your accuracy many moons ago, certainly not any more, as sometimes my hands shake, which yours never do, I'm seriously impressed at your accuracy 👌👌👍👍👏👏👏👏👏 I adore your fabric, that colourway would suit me to a T 😋 I know I'm incorrigible 😌 I've got a bit of energy at the moment and have washed a bucket load of linen, twill, sweatshirt and stretch Jersey. No guesses as to whose will be made first, definitely not mine, 2 little cherubs are first, after I eventually do a couple + of repairs for my sons Fiance, I did offer to teach her as she could use my eldest granddaughters child's Janome, which is a great wee goer. A question, when you mentioned doing a mock up, do you do it from calico or pin your pattern together? Sorry, another one, is that just brown paper your using for your patterns. I thought you used a firmer paper for your basic blocks? I love love love your tutorials. Problem, you make it look so easy. 🤔🙄😏 how I'd feel, totally confused.....
@SewCustom5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Janet💕💕💕I'm so glad to hear you're feeling a bit better and sounds like you have a bit of a list to get through before you can get to something for yourself, that's always the way, isn't it😉 in the mock up, neither, I like to make my mock ups in fabric that resembles that of my final version, for me only then can I see how it fits and feels on the body👍 I mentioned this in another comment, I think it might be an experience thing and perhaps in time I'll be able to "see" a bit more clearly with the tissue fitting🤔 I do use card for my blocks but in this video I my aim was to get to the final pattern (my block is already on card👍) I'm so glad you enjoy the videos, have a fabulous week Janet💕💕💕💕💕

BRAVO Suzanne, this was very enjoyable to watch. I have that same book (you suggested it in your video about your resources last year sometime, so I bought it - LOL). I LOVE visuals, so it is nice to see what the book was describing, as I'll be using my books as help for my french jacket as well. So excited to see your other jackets.

Thanks so much NaturalDane, I'm so glad you enjoyed💕💕💕 I had no clue until working on this project that the book had a jacket block and one that is super straightforward to create, love that block and that book 💕💕💕 I know what you mean about visuals, I'm exactly the same👍👍 I'm just putting the finishing touches to toile 2 and all being well hope to start my final version this weekend 🤞🍀🤞when you sorting your materials for yours did you get buttons, I'm struggling with making a decision on whether to add some and if so which ones🤔🤔🤔 have a wonderful, wonderful week NaturalDane 💕💕💕💕💕

Hi Susanne - I am really enjoying your wonderful videos and I'm only part way through your library. I'm still trying to get my head around slippers/blocks and I've already printed off the necessary paperwork from Dianne's website. Given the sloper/block has been drawn up with personal measurements - how do you know how much to alter the original measurements? Regards, Sandra (Cairns)
@SewCustom5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandra, I'm glad you're enjoying the content💕💕💕 I know what you mean about getting your head around blocks😶 I'm still trying to get my head around them😉 the measurements I used here for the jacket block are standard and should work for all as the individual measurements have been applied to the dress block, the one I traced at the start 👍👍👍 I hope this helps to clarify 🍀🤞🍀 have a fab weekend Sandra💕💕💕
@hazelkinvig-paul82315 жыл бұрын
This was fascinating as usual Susanne! I always understand everything you do! One thing I need to ask, when you say, "it's important to make a mock up!, do you mean you pin the actual pattern pieces together and try the paper pattern on as you would a muslin? You really should be a teacher! TFS 👍❤
@SewCustom5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Hazel💕💕💕 I usually make my mock ups in fabric👍👍👍 this is usually toile number 1👍 I've heard some sewists do exactly as you describe with the paper but for me I can't see the fit and feel unless I make my toile out of similar fabric to that of my final version👍👍👍 maybe it's an experience thing🤔🤔🤔 that's very kind of you to say Hazel💕💕💕have a fabulous weekend💕💕💕💕💕

Thanks so much Jennifer 💕💕💕 I drafted a whole new sleeve block for this one but I needn't have as when I measured the new block the difference was so small it could just be eased into the armhole😫.

Hi, thank you for this tutorial. I can’t understand darts on shoulders...why do you draw darts and then you close them?
@SewCustom5 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura, for this one I wanted a little bit fitting and as such started with the darted dress block. The block is designed with basic darts to give a the fitted silhouette and dependent on the style these can repositioned or removed. For me, here, moving the dart to the side seam worked for the style I was going for. The shoulder dart in the back was not necessary for this design so was removed. Working from the block in this way, for me, allows for versatility and some shortcutting of the patterning 👍
