I'm in the middle of a 60' sewer pipe replacement. They had installed thin, sub-grade PVC pipe for an added rear bathroom, and the weight of the dirt had crushed it, splitting it along the bottom for several feet. I rented a trencher and chewed out the old pipe, but then had to rent a mini excavator (AWESOME) to finish the job. In retrospect, I should have done the whole job with the excavator. We had gotten estimates to replace the pipe when we thought only about 20' of it was bad, and $8K - $10K was the average. I'll have about $600 in rental fees and maybe $200 in pipe, fittings and cement. Plumbers sure have gotten "proud" of their work in the past few years. It costs $140 to have someone snake a sink out nowadays. It's just waste running downhill, guys.

Never connect your pipe into your fitting in a straight line. Insert your pipe about a 1/4 turn from finished alignment. When you fully insert the pipe to the depth of the socket , then twist it the 1/4 turn to align your marks. This will insure that there is no voids of glue or air in your connection.

@creativerepairing29603 жыл бұрын
Hi James, Thanks for the comment. As for the old pipe, depending on what it is made of you can cut it up and put it in your garbage can. Clay and cast iron pipe is heavy so there are usually maximum weight requirements by your garbage company. As for the permit every jurisdiction is different and you would want to check with your local building department. A lot of counties have a $1000 or less cut off for permit requirements and I have not seen any statutes which determine how the $1000 is calculated. For example if you spend $200 for pipe and fittings and pay yourself $5 per hours how does that add up to $1000.

Hi Gerald, Thank you for your comment. Interesting topic of baptism which I have studied and pondered for years. Consider the following verse Acts 10:44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. The "Holy Spirit was poured out on even the Gentiles (vs 45)" and they "received the Holy Spirit just as Peter had (vs 47)" prior to being baptized with water. Can an unsaved person "receive the Holy Spirit just as Peter did" prior to being saved if in fact they were not saved because they had not yet been baptized with water? What do you think? I value your opinion on this topic. Thanks
@geraldritchey48222 жыл бұрын
@@creativerepairing2960 Thank you for the question. I absolutely love answering this question, because it is in the context of Acts 2, yet people are oblivious to it. First of all you have to understand that in Acts 2:38, Luke has already established what the plan of salvation is. It is repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus for remission of sins, and receiving the Holy Ghost. Not one, not two, but all three things are necessary. If one is missing, the salvation process is not complete. Any subsequent mention of salvation, or believing, or conversion is automatically understood to include all three. Now to Acts 10. The Jews did not believe the Gentiles were eligible for Acts 2:38 salvation. But God , through a vision to Peter, was about to change this. He let Peter know that it was His will for Gentiles to be saved. But the six Jews with Peter had not seen the vision Peter saw. If Peter would have baptized the Gentiles first, the Jews would have certainly strongly objected, and considered Peter to be out of line. God allowed the Gentiles to receive the Spirit before being baptized in order to convince those Jews that it was God's doing, and not Peter's. They witnessed the supernatural sign of Holy Ghost infilling, speaking in tongues, and because of this they could not object. That's why Peter asked "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?" They had no grounds to object, since they had witnessed the unmistakable universal sign of Spirit infilling, which is speaking in tongues. But the salvation process was not complete. Baptism is for the purpose of remission of sins. Peter commanded them to be baptized in order to fulfill this requirement.

Hi Gerald, Thanks for answering my questions. It really helped me to see your theological position. We don’t agree on all points but it is good to see where someone is coming from and to dig into our bibles. I am not against baptizm and I have been baptized in water just as the Lord has directed us. When I look at the three crosses at Calvary there are two thieves on either side of Jesus in Luke 23:39 "One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him,[d] saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”. When I read this passage I see in the second criminal repentance and faith acknowledging who Jesus was and him calling out to him through faith, and Jesus pronounced him saved "today you will be with me in paradise", yet no where in the verse is there water baptism. Water Baptism represents the death and burial of our old man (going under the water) then the resurrection of our new man being born again with the Holy Spirit (coming back up out of the water), as a spiritual representation of what Christ did for us on the cross. When baptism is referenced in Mark 16:16 it doesn’t mean it exclusively it has to be a physical ritual of emersion in water but a recognition in the heart through faith, the death, burial and resurrection of Christ which leads to our being born again. When viewed like this all the scriptures about salvation line up and make perfect since. Some scriptures reference baptism as part of salvation and some don’t such as Romans 10:9. The question concerning whether the physical ritual of water baptism as a requirement for salvation, my answer is no. We are not saved by ritual or works but by "grace through faith." "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, the ceremonial ritual of water baptism does not save us. However, the baptism of the Spirit is necessary for salvation and that has nothing to do with rituals in water. I respect your opinion and would always encourage anyone to be baptized.

@@creativerepairing2960 I encounter these questions a lot. The first thing you have to understand about the thief on the cross is, he was not under the New Testament, or Covenant. Everything that happened in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John is under the Old Testament. Hebrews 9:16,17 explains that for a testament to take effect, there must be the death of the testator. Jesus was the testator of the New Testament. Therefore the New Testament did not take effect until Jesus died. The exact moment was when the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom, signifying that men no longer need a priest to intercede, but every man can now approach God for himself because of what Jesus did on Calvary. The first people saved under the New Covenant or the church age was in Acts 2:1-4. Back to the thief. Matthew 9:6 says while Jesus was on earth He had power to forgive sins. That's how the thief was saved without having to follow the law, offer sacrifices, etc. Baptism for remission of sins was not in force until the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2. Ephesians 2:8,9: This is a direct reference to Acts 19:1-6, where the Ephesians were saved by repentance(which they had done at John's instruction), water baptism in the name of Jesus, and receiving the Holy Ghost. That's how the Ephesians were saved. That's what saved by grace means. Grace doesn't mean you don't have to do anything. It means we get the opportunity to receive and obey instructions on how to be saved. Noah found grace, but grace alone didn't save him. He had to follow instructions on how to build the ark to save himself and his family. Being born again(according to John 3:3-5) is obeying Acts 2:38. Born of water is water baptism. Born of the Spirit is receiving the Holy Ghost. John 3:5 says we must be born of water and of the Spirit to enter heaven. I disagree with your assertion that baptism is not salvific. Acts 2:38 says baptism remits sin. How can you be saved if your sins are not remitted? You can't. I Peter 3:21 specificly says baptism now saves us. Acts 22:16 says baptism washes away sin. Colossians 2:11 says baptism puts away sin.

Hi Gerald, Thank you for your reply. I have been enjoying our discussion as it takes both of us deeper into the Word. I feel the conversation needs to go to the interlinear for a study of how the word “baptize” is translated. First the word baptize or baptized is translated from the Greek word “Baptizo (G907)”. In Matthew 3:11 John says “I baptize (Baptizo G907) you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize (Baptizo G907) you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” In this passage we can see there are two baptisms, one the baptism of water for repentance and the second is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which is often physically manifested by the gift of speaking in tongues and other spiritual gifts, both baptisms of which are translated from the same Greek word (Baptizo G907). We can conclude from Matthew 3:11 that the use of the word Baptize (Baptizo G907) does not exclusively mean “baptism in water” and from my study the use of the word baptize (Baptizo G907) when it is referring to water baptism it connected with the second Greek word for water “Hydor G5204”, which is the same pattern we see in Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16 and John 1:33. Now with this conclusion in mind when we go back you your original scripture Acts 2:38 “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized (Baptizo G907) , every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”, we can’t conclude this is speaking of water baptism as “Hydor G5204” is not mentioned and additionally the scripture says “you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” which is usually the physical manifestation of the “baptism of the Holy Spirit”. Likewise we see this same pattern in Mark 16:16 “Whoever believes and is baptized (Baptizo G907) will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” While (Baptizo G907) is used here, “water (Hydor G5204)” is not included and immediately following in vs 17 we again see the physical manifestation of the “Baptism of the Holy Spirit”. We also see this same pattern in Acts 19:1-6. What do you think?
