I haven’t been quilting for very long and I still am terrible at doing binding. My daughter asked me to bind a circular tree skirt for her and I knew enough to try to find instruction on how to do that. This video popped up when I searched Pinterest. Thank you so much for the video!! I knew nothing about bias binding but I was able to create it and do a great job on the tree skirt. I just know I would have been swearing and frustrated if I hadn’t watched the videos. And how excited was I to find this amazing source of all things sewing!!!!

Thank you!!! I needed this! And, for exactly the same project! You explain things so well. Honestly, there should be an award for best “tutorialist” (?) and YOU should receive it! Merry Christmas 🎄 and I look forward to many many more from you in the new year! God bless,xo

THANK YOU! This tip will improve my accuracy in binding the Plum Easy round table toppers and hot pads. I machine sew binding rather than hand sew.

You came to the rescue once again. I viewed your Xmas tree skirt tutorial, bought the ruler you used and the skirt came out wonderful. But then the sinking feeling hit (after admiring my skirt top) as to how am I would quilt and bind the piece. lol Little did I know you had that covered with more tutorials. Thank you for showing your method for quilting the skirt and definitely how to use the bias binding. You are the best! You are an excellent teacher Laura. Merry Christmas!

I always learn so much from you! I love your tip about joining the binding! That is my least favorite thing to do, but I think your technique is fabulous! Will try it on my next quilt. I quit making metered corners, & now make curves on my quilts. This will help even more! Merry Christmas🎅💓

Laura , Thank you for the wonderful directions , however my tree skirt has a cut threw the back to the center of it. So where would you start the bias with this one.? 😊 Thank you and happy holidays.

It looks great, thanks for showing how to do curved binding. But how do you use this as a tree skirt, all that I’ve seen are not sewing in a complete circle so that it can be wrapped around the tree base.
@SewVeryEasy4 жыл бұрын
Please take a minute and watch the video where I make the tree skirt. I explained why I have done it this way. Thanks for asking

SewVeryEasy guess I missed it.

I must have missed something. The tree? How do you get that shirt around the base? I'm just going to guess that you put the trunk through the middle hole before you stand up the tree in the tree stand? But it is a beautiful shirt.

She showed in her previous video 2 ways either don't sew the end wedges together leaving a slit, or the way she does it is put her tree stand down first then tree skirt over then tree in stand.

I've been looking for a method of doing the same inside and outside curves, but finishing by machine without having puckers. Have you ever found a way to do it? Hand sewing is not an option with my arthritis.

👍 Thanks for sharing, it's a beautiful skirt. PLEASE PLEASE teach us how to make a Chandelier Quilt? I would love to see your detailed tutorial on this one rather than read it off some book or paper instructions.

I wish you showed us you stitching more instead of cutting to that point. Also many of us do not hand sew. I'm a busy mom of teenage girls no time or patience for hand sewing.

I also gave a hard time with hand sewing...arthritis in my hand. How can we do binding with our machines?
@trishwormsley79034 жыл бұрын
Babs perhaps teach your girls how to do the hand sewing. Or, use invisible thread and machine stitch both sides of the binding.

Well maybe when you are the one putting out a free tutorial and give of your talents, time and efforts, you can do it "better". Seriously, Laura took the time to make this beautiful, helpful tutorial and you take her to task for not doing it in a way that suits you? Shame on you.
