Save the trimmed batting. I keep small pieces in a separate bag. When I finish a child's quilt, I often make a stuffed toy, like a teddy bear, from the scrap fabrics. I shred up the small mixed batting pieces when I'm watching TV, and use them as batting for the toys.

What happens if the batting is trimmed too close and a sliver of fabric is cut?

The batting has been trimmed as close as we can to the stitching to reduce the bulk. But we still needed the length for the back fabric
