A used bar of soap to mark quilting lines? Absolutely brilliant!! Am thrilled to learn that I don't need to use batting to finish off my tablecloth.

Thank you Laura, I can do that. I can't stand tightly quilted show pieces, even on beds! Hard and horrible. Pretty to look at but not cuddly! This is so nice!

Really enjoyed this video :) Though I rarely use the kitchen table anymore....I'm thinking gifts. Looks like a fun change from my usual quilting. Oh....p.s. That red and black are actually my kitchen colors lol.

Would this hang well? I have tablecloths my grandmother embroidered and would like to make quilts out of them for gifts to my nieces.

If you use Elmer's School glue stick you can Iron it to dry and on your first washing it all comes out. With Elmer's ironing does. Ot make it permanent I do it with all of my appliqué pieces

Hi - I am Linda from England and I have just found your channel and LOVE IT, you teach very well. I am currently re-jigging my sewing room after having watched your sewing room tour hee hee. I really love this video of your tablecloth - I have made some really large tablecloths but have always quilted them - they are lovely once finished and everyone loves them which is great. However, I was very interested to hear you say you can quilt your tablecloth without using batting. I have one question please, when you say you have used a thick flannel what exactly is flannel? Is it like a flannelette or a thick cotton material? Sorry, I hope that question isn't totally silly , but I would love to make a tablecloth with that kind of backing. Have you done a tutorial on how to make this particular red, white and black tablecloth? it is lovely and would definitely go well in my dining room. Thank you for a great tutorial and I shall certainly be a regular and have subscribe already. Linda x

Flannelette would be fine, be sure to wash it a few times first, as it does shrink. And here is the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6OYo2mjpaudatU
