The straw idea is pure genius. I would not go out a buy a special foot to try something but I would do the straw idea to try it to see if I liked it. Thanks again.

So I should be able to couch the black of a stain glass quilt with my free motion foot just like the yellow on the red you did. Correct? That way I can do all my glass part and cover with couching the black over all the edges like you would real stain glass.😃😃

SewVeryEasy I bought my first machine, a Bernina 1130 and I got a really,thick manual with it detailing every foot and examples of what you could use them for. That was back in 1989/90. Sadly, I loaned the machine to someone and forgot about it, they dumped it before checking with me first, so angry, i loved that machine, don't make them like it anymore. 😪

I tried couching using my free motion quilt foot and some yarn...works fine in a straight line...but when you start to circle around the needle won't 'hit' the yarn at all, so there are missed spots! Thanks for the video!

D H try a different foot, I tried my free motion clear foot, but will try different foot.
@debbieford85426 жыл бұрын
hi D H. not sure what machine u have (mine r Brother & pfaff) and as i don't do couching that often, didn't purchase a specific foot so I use the N foot - normally reserved for decorative stitches. You can't use thick yarn and it takes practice, a LOT of practice. If you think it's something you'll do a lot, I'd purchase a couching foot, not usually expensive.
@rosariomitchcooney88136 жыл бұрын
Hi DH, also I had same problem, after watching Laura's video, I now know much more, for the free mot foot she uses fine yarn & straight stitch as quilting, for the more decorative threads she uses other feet eg ziz zag and feed dogs up. WAtch her video again as it has lots of info, & later I also will practice as I want to use couching more. I think I might have been threading foot wrong as another lady noted.

Be sure to get one that is suitable for your machine. Not all of them are interchangeable. I find the best way to get what you need is to go to a sewing machine repair shop or a shop that sells the sewing machines.
