Best direction. I went from series to parallel at the neck lil' 59 on my HSH Strat. Dramatic change, got the clarity I needed with little power drop.

Thank you! Done parallel wiring on 2 of my guitars. One with pearly gates SD and the other SD humbucking (can't recall exact model) which was too hot sounding. Now becomes more twangy and listenable to my own taste. Dropped volume output is just a minor setback tho.

FANTASTIC. just swapped from series to parallel wiring on a lil 59 and JB jr in my stat.and the result is GREAT. it was just to muddy for my taste, not much loss in power just moved the pickup closer to the strings, and sounds a lot better. thanks for video I had no idea this could be done until seeing it thanks again.😀

I use a short mini toggle between next to my pickup switch to change from series to parallel. Parallel is GREAT! Series has more mids and is definitely darker. I use parallel mostly with a SD SSL-5 Custom single coil at the neck (no middle pickup). Killer set up.

couple of points: 1. hot wires are soldered to the input of the potentiometer (left lug, looking from above), not the output lug (middle) which would go to the switch. 2. In parallel, hot (red) & ground are soldered to the top of pot & green goes to input (left lug, looking from above). 2 will give you a slightly brighter, more nasally sound akin to out of phase pickups

Thanks for the help. I found the Duncan pick up was out of phase with a fender gen 4 noiseless. I presume the phase is the same when hooked up with this parallel wiring so for me to get it in phase with the gen 4 I would have to run the green and white to hot?

Sweet, I had a neglected Epiphone G400 Hanging on the wall for a decade. It had a Invader put in before I found it. Worked alright a bit scratch and gritty with the old knobs, Replaced all those with new ones and wired for 50s Style, not bad for a 250 dollar guitar.
@sevennotes89402 жыл бұрын
I got caught off guard by the term output switch. I saw one video you did using the output jack as a switch for lighting I think. Is it the pickup selector switch you are referring to? I haven't been into a guitar in some time to see where wires go to and come from. Thanks.

If I have a two wire EVH Frankenstein Humbuckers could you explain how to wire them in parallel? I thought they were made by Seymour Duncan but I may be wrong. Also this is a PRS Custom 24 with one volume one tone pot. Both pots are push pull American made aftermarket.

I’m putting Seymour Duncan invaders in my Sterling JP150 I matched color for color like the pickups that were in it and it cant be right. All works but sounds weird. The factory pick ups had the black and white soldered together. I did that with these and must not be correct.

I recently wired in new SD Pearly Gates pickups in my Epiphone LP. I wired it the first way and it sounds great if I use any of my pedals. However if I don't use any pedals the high treble strings are ear piercing loud while the lower strings sound great. Ive adjusted the height by Gibson standard height and also have played around w the height. Is there anything I can do to stop the harsh treble strings?
@MultiDragola7 жыл бұрын
Shawn sounds like you pickup is too high on the the high e. Lower your pickup height on the right and should help

Okay I got a hot rail that came pre wired with tone, volume and 3-way switch. Can't find any diagrams to check it. It has the black and bare soldered to 3 way then to volume pot. White to 3 way. Red and green soldered together and taped. Is this right and what does the 3 way do in this configuration?
@mikmo92697 жыл бұрын
Mr VanFossen If it's an SD pickup then the red and green are the ground and hot from one half of the pu so what you describe means that half of the rail is isolated and inoperative. The other half is equally useless as both leads go to the selector and none to ground. Have a look on the SD website for wiring options.

SD do not show a correct electrical diagram . Lollar do and are correct . It would appear that SD connect in series but out of phase ? It should read end of coil connects to start of the next coil . They don’t . They have ends connected to ends .

Very useless video guitar guts! But what goin' on if a have a guitar with 2 Hum (for ex: JB on Bridge, 59 on neck pos) 1 volume, 2 tones and 2 mini switch for splitting the hum's into single coils? What is the correct wiring? Thank you for the answer!
@guitarguts55308 жыл бұрын
When you start throwing in mini switches, things get confusing pretty fast. It depends on what you want the switch positions to do. Seymour Duncan's website a lot of great wiring diagrams.
