Man. I can't believe that nobody is mentioning how big the OD DP nerf actually is. It's completely erradicated my favourite setup! OD DP used to give a +29 knockdown no matter where or when it was used in a combo. If used against a cornered opponent, this meant you could go for an auto-timed meaty Run-Overhead on landing that allowed you to combo it into a jab and then into his target combo. You could also do run-stop cr.lk or run-stop throw for an amazing true high/low/throw mix. This setup used to get me so many victories, I can't tell you how sad I am to see it gone... This was, by far, my most used and most favoured oki. I wohld end all my combos with OD DP if I had the bar to spend!! The only upside is that it now gives a +23 knockdown which means you can use the following setups in the corner instead: Immediate Drive Rush fierce punch (push fierce on first available frame) hits super meaty giving +11 on hit and +6 on block. You can combo into a second standing fierce which also trades if they mash jab, allowing for a 3rd standing fierce trade combo for huge damage. Or you can do a safe frame trap with cr. HP. If you just do Drive Rush empty, you can block in time to avoid reversals too so its not fake pressure. +23 also means you can do immediate meaty step kick that will give +5 on regular hit and only be - 2 on block and still be outside throw range. I'd still prefer the old oki, it's made Ken a lot more boring for me personally... Peace!

I appreciate the detail. I'll look into this Oki a little more. The overhead is good but I always felt some meaty setups that hit on frame 1 or 2 were risky due to perfect parry. I really need to flesh out Ken Oki in my mind for stronger setups

@RushG Perfect Parry is always a risk but I don't think it should ever stop you from using meaty pressure, otherwise you just completely give up your advantage. I'd always begin the round with the run-stop throw version to discourage the parry, then when the time was right, switch to the overhead,or vice versa if they start the match with a lot of blocking and delay tech. I still have meaty overhead setups to go to but the OD DP was my favourite because you could get to it from ANY starter, be it a light, medium or heavy, or even reversals or wall splats, it was always an option... Sad times. Peace.

@RushG So updated after a bit of time. OD Dp can give 2 different oki timings, +22 if hitting a grounded opponent or +23 after hitting a juggled opponent. This means you're +4 or +5 respectively on block after the meaty DR fierce and not +6 like I said before. So you can combo a cr.fp on hit and this will trade with a jab on block which will allow a followup trade combo I believe. You'll have to forgive me for the inaccuracy! Peace.

I’ve been working on all the mixups that can come from 1-3 lights (throwing/spacing or frame traps) and jinrai just adds a whole new layer in terms of l/m/h jinrai and going into low/high/no follow up, even delaying the second hit as well

They are trying to bring the more powerful characters in-line with the rest of the cast. Cammy had it coming, Ken too, Rashid needs serious attention. Shin Ryu is soon to be the next big problem!

This update was clearly to increase punish opportunities against Ken and cut off his momentum in match ups. If he gets a knock down. It's an automatic reset, basically. The opponent gets more opportunities to put Ken on the defensive and there's no trade off. His attacks are either weaker or the same which means he'll be spending meter to gain damage. That's why they created meter buffs to supply Ken players with more opportunities to use it.

Nothing like MORE Ken nerfs for no reason. I still see people crying about his Jinrai kicks for gods sake lol. Like fuck me, every Jinrai option loses to delayed light, which has been the case since DAY 1. People are just to bad and lazy to actually learn the game.

Stepkick hurtbox isn’t for whiff punishing it’s for punishing it on block. Which is weird because the move is barely useful anyway.

I tested it on block and it seemed exactly the same as before. The wordings "hurtbox" and "recovery" suggest whiff If it were on block id expect them to say "pushback reduced" like for the sweep changes
