Thanks for what you do each year promoting these authors! The genre is clearly in great hands for the foreseeable future. Womb City looks like a good one. Can't wait to see what is new in horror.

Thanks Thomas for ‘taking one for the team’ and powering through that feat of moisture deprivation. I am looking forward to the first contact story by Cixin Liu(?) and the two alien artifact stories. Glad to see you feeling better after K’rona Vyress.

Looks like science fiction is alive and kicking. Sometimes you could get the impression, that these days we might be narrowing down on certain tropes and tried and proven ideas. Not so - thanks for the overview and your work. And the ... anticipation.

It's that time of year again, yay! Nice stacked list for SF this year. Titles most interesting to me: Three Eight One: I like the idea of a person from a far future society looking back (in horror?) at our present day. Exordia: The idea of a human and a (friendly?) alien working together to solve a high stakes problem worked really well in Project Hail Mary, and the blurb from Arkady Martine definitely doesn't hurt. Twice Lived and Vangie's Ghosts: I'm always looking for good multiverse fiction. Both of these are interesting in that vein, especially Vangie's Ghosts. Tomorrow's Children: I like the concept of the city being locked away from the rest of the world for centuries and finally making contact from that world and the dynamic that brings. Jumpnauts: First contact novel translated by Ken Liu? Sign me up. Archangels of Funk: What is there to say, this just looks bonkers. In our Stars: Has Buck Rogers vibes. Hoping it has that classic pulp sci-fi feel that the cover seems to promise. Service Model: Adrian Tchaikovsky. The Knife and the Serpent: I really liked Pratt's Doors of Sleep duology, and this one looks to be in a similar vein. The Great Hemisphere: Really interesting premise. Futuristic take on the Invisible Man? The Mercy of Gods: I think every SF fan is looking forward to this. Key Lime Sky: Always interested in good comedy SF. Polostan: Sequel to Seveneves. I'm hoping this solves some of the issues of the last act of it's mostly great prequel. Alien Clay: Adrian Tchaikovsky ;) Great list yet again. The last half of the year looks especially stacked. Looking forward to the rest of the lists this week!

Ok now that im done with the video (great vid btw). I think im most looking forward to Exordia, Floating Hotel, Ghost Station, The Stardust Grail, Time's Agent, Big Lime Sky, Moonstorm, and In Universes. Also Redsight but that might be on your fantasy list instead, will watch later! I gotta do some research on middle grade releases too, it's nice to read something easier in between adult books.

Thank you for doing the book release videos! I look forward to them every year. Enjoy the way you read the summaries and mention if books are marketed as queer or sapphic. Only halfway through the sci fi video and many books already added!

Are you reading Ruocchio's Sun Eater saga, Thomas? Also, there is a new novel coming out by Jeff Noon, but I am not sure if it is science fiction.
@SFF180

That one looks like urban fantasy and will be appearing on that list. I probably will be getting to Sun Eater early in the year, though something tells me I might have a lot to critique about them.

I haven't kept up with the publishing news this past few months, so most of these titles are new to me. The only one one that I was expecting was The Mercy of Gods. I'm really happy to see 2 new books from Tchaikovsky, he is certainly in my top 5 favorite authors right now. And there were at least 7 other titles that I'm keeping an eye out. Your lists have been a highlight for me for these past few years, looking forward to the fantasy one as well.

I noticed 1Q84 on your shelf. Is it worth the time of a 75yr old who no longer buys green bananas. If you get my drift? I have downloaded a sample onto my Kindle, yet to be read. I've also seen a title of a KZbin video called 7 Reasons Why1Q84 Sucks. I don't imagine you hold the same opinion but could you link to your review of it assuming you did a review? Thanks.

It’s not my favorite of his by far. But it’s an interesting read for all its issues. I do need to pull all of my old notes together for a proper review, so when that happens I will of course let everyone know.

I agree. I adored Seveneves.. until it abandoned all the characters I had invested hundreds of pages in and made that weird jump into the future. I actually DNF'd the book.. I tried to slog through but could have cared less about what was going on, probably because I had zero investment in any of these new characters, or the setting. It was like part of an entirely different book was slapped onto the end. Nice that he is finishing that piece of the story but I'd rather go back to the colony of survivors.

Yes, the book is best appreciated simply by not reading that final bit. 😅 That being said, I now have an ARC of Polostan and it’s definitely _not_ a sequel to Seveneves after all.

are u planning to read ALL of these or are u more picky think u said something about one that features a Funk Cloud well it feels like one as settled on to me now as one of my fav booktubers has gotten into some DEEP SPACE kind of trouble it's going to be tough to get out of of course u know who I mean anyway thought Triangle of Sadness was a well-intentioned stab at the Wicked Rich and a clever kind of lord of the flies twist on class war but regret I paid twenty bucks to OWN it when it was only five to rent it which was about all it was worth⚛😀
