It's awesome that you guys are playing this, it's great to see the roots of video games. Kids these days don't know the roots of video games with their Call of Duty, and their Last of Us, and Titan Fall. This was one of the first video games, a true classic.

@MrYoshbert10 жыл бұрын
I have really fond memories of Galaga. Specifically, Galaga Arrangement (the 1990s remake). Anyone remember that? It's part of the PS2/Gamecube version of Namco Museum (along with the original) and MAN, I had some great times with that when I was little. It gives the original game a major cosmetic overhaul, and adds dozens of crazy and unique levels, new power-ups, bosses, and even background music (and awesome music at that). Oh, and it featured 2-player co-op and versus modes, too. It also included remakes Pac-Man and Dig Dug, which also got a bunch of the same additions. If you guys decide to do another Score Attack Sunday in the future, you ought to give the Namco "Arrangement" games a shot.
@smashmaster5214 жыл бұрын
I do. I played the hell out of Namco Museum PS2/Gamecube (specifically the PS2 version), and Galaga Arrangement was one of the games they included. God, I love that particular Namco Museum. Easily one of my favorite games of all time despite it being a compilation that didn't even have a Museum to explore. I'm glad I own it again.

According to Wikipedia, "The world record high score for Galaga was set in June 1989 by Stephen Krogman of Boca Raton, Florida. Krogman scored 15,999,990 points based on Marathon rules.[12] On January 1, 2011 Andrew Laidlaw of Kirkland, WA claimed the Tournament setting world record (five ships only, set to greatest difficulty) with a score of 4,525,150 points.[13] The Rapid Fire setting (depression of the fire button causes continuous shooting) world record and Ms. Pac-Man / Galaga: Class of 1981 Fast Shot setting world records are held by Jon Klinkel of Battle Creek, MI with scores of 3,210,590 and 2,913,720 respectively

Galaga was my favorite old school namco game by far. Everyone in my family was good in it and we were all really competitive. Like a bad score for me would be like 80,000. I remember one time my cousin even beat the high score in this arcade we went too. I really miss those days.

Ah yes, Galaga. Propably one of my favourite score attack styled Namco arcade games. I mean of course *nothing* beats Dig dug, but this one comes at least vaguely close. This is one of those games that me & my sister were constantly score waring over on the PS3 Namco museum essentials. A very fun game indeed & yet I never really had a thing for Galaxians despite the blatant simularities. Unfortunately, due to the great PS3 memory wipe of 2013, the original high-score war between me & my sister has ended. While I'm not really good at Galaga at all, I still managed to win the last laugh with a high-score of 87.000 points after an hour of playing. I'll just stick to Dig dug for the big high-scoring, but I just got that score to jab at my sister as retaliation for her beating me to a bloody pulp in Tetris every god damn time (that & Robotron 2084).

Ever since Christmas of 2007, I encountered a Ms Pacman/Galaga cabinet at my aunt's house. My family would always go downstairs to eat and play games. At the bar, I found a game room. It had 1 arcade cabinet and 2 pinball machines. The pinball machines were a diner pinball machine and a Star Wars Episode 1 pinball machine. The thing I played the most was the Ms Pacman/Galaga cabinet. Me and my sisters would always beat each others high scores on that cabinet because we had so much fun with those 2 games. It got even better when I got the Homebrew Channel on my Wii in 2013 because now I could have an NES emulator that allowed to play those 2 games and a bunch of other NES games. Ahhhhh, so many memories.....
