I am so proud of *all* this year's graduates, finding their own unique ways to celebrate; and I am so happy for all the graduates featured on SGN, especially those who got to speak with their favorite celebrities. But while I know I shouldn't play favorites (*every* graduate this year deserves love and honor), I am especially delighted that we go to see Amanda perform one of her amazing poems.

As a Valedictorian from the graduating Class of 2020, hearing that so many things, including my graduation, have been cancelled was less than ideal. I’ve worked so hard for a moment that I had imagined for years and years, but I can truly say I never imagined it would end like this. Here’s to making new memories and learning to cherish the unknown. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain” ❤️

I am not graduating this year. Instead, yesterday I submitted my retirement letter from a job I have enjoyed for 27 years. Although I look forward to retirement, I feel a bit lost. To quote John - Now What? After I listened to the commencement conversations, I am inspired. I don’t know where I will find myself a year from now, but I do know that there is a future in which I have more things to accomplish! Thanks for the inspiration.

Jon Stewart - Sometimes in life you're going to get the short end of the stick. You're going into the world where no one is grading you. Stop completing things and start living them. You have no idea what is about to come at you and man isn't that the beautiful part. Embrace that. I am the captain of my own ship and I will write this story.
