This message can't summarize the whole talk but I am leaving it here for someone who is looking to remember all the points. Lesson 1: No man (person) is an Island. We all are social beings. Lesson 2: Mentalising: Thinking about thinking - Capacity to think about the mental state of self and others. Being aware of the thoughts. Unprocessed emotions manifest in the form of symptoms that could be mental or physical. Lesson 3: One step at a time- Change takes time. Think about only the next step. Don't get overwhelmed by thinking of all the next 1000 steps. Practice attention over distraction. Your mind becomes what you practice. Focus on positive thoughts. Lesson 4: Staring at the Sun (name of a book): We have a short life. The only certainty is death. Savour each moment. Make days and moments count. Take pauses to enjoy and savor life. Lesson 5: Be like a weeble (toy) - Weebles wobble but they don't fall down. This is how resilience works. You can wobble but don't fall down. And even if you do, stand up, dust yourself, and move along. Be easy at yourselves in difficult moments and keep moving ahead. You are allowed to be slow, take momentarily pauses but keep moving forward. Lesson 6: Naming what's difficult - Name what is difficult and frightening to you and you will take away the power from these uncertainties. Lesson 7: The power of love - We all crave love. Research on monkeys and humans has shown that our brains are shaped by love. Hugging helps. Even hugging a tree is better than being alone. Lesson 8: Good enough is good enough - Don't be too hard on your self. If you are good enough and honest about it, thats better than struggling to be perfect.

“Rather than being perfect, maybe it’s more important to be honest, open and authentic.” Thanks Mike RIP.

This is a great use of 20 minutes - to watch / listen and absorb some helpful life lessons from two good people. Mike is a very sad loss to our community - so much he had done, so much yet to offer, a real mensch who is much-missed.

This was one of the most outstanding Ted Talks I’ve ever heard-and I’m a regular listener! I appreciate the lessons learned and how they were delivered-from the heart, from their personal stories, from the research and with such humility and genuine desire to make a difference. You’ve made a difference in my life! I’m sharing this talk with my loved ones. Thank you so much! ❤
