Let me edit this: This statement is referring to PRIOR to the Olympics pretrial. Here's the thing. Sha'Carri has never competed against WORLD CLASS athletes. She did well at the Olympic pre-trials and people who've never heard of her started taking notice. They thought she was more than what she was, not realizing she'd never faced that level of competition. She wanted the attention, now be prepared for what comes with that attention, be it praise or criticism.

The difference is, that the original GOATs like Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Micheal Phelps, Usain Bolt, Fraser-Pryce, Allyson Felix, and Simone Biles dealt with years of criticism while putting up the numbers FIRST with grace and challenges. These new athletes are coming off as one-hit wonders, with a world of praise before really proving themselves to the sport. And doing a lot of talk and media BEFORE they put up any real numbers. The GOATs won and failed, won and failed, honing their skills to be the best. These new athletes haven't learned what that means.

Sha’Carri thought it was possible to cash in from popularity driven by the media, but not suffer from the same process when her performances aren’t good. That’s not how it works. A simple reason why this is that never gets mentioned is that the media loses credibility when fans notice the media goes silent when the athletes they prop up aren’t criticized when they fail. Reporters actually have to remain credible to be relevant.

Won't work. Not in here DNA. Sha'Carri's self-destruction is similar to Antonio Brown's... She seems to have a bit of a behavioral disorder which she mask with the over-the-top wardrobe, make-up and accessories. Realize her biggest problem is her FANS. Sounds crazy, but it's true. For Sha'Carri to develop the psyche to consistently be that elite athlete, she needs her fans to support her track performance and NOT her "trap" performance. So if her PR team is about that, and slicing off the "twerking enablers" Social Media fanbase so she can get that "working enablers" fanbase, then yes, a new PR team could work.

There is a correlation between a track athlete's social media following / popularity and their pay. My point is that she's benefitted from the controversy while there are other more seasoned professional runners who don't get enough credit or attention.

Allyson Felix is the most decorated US track and field athlete in history (male or female), even surpassing Carl Lewis. She has also by far been the most versatile female runner on the world stage medalling in everything from 100m and 200m to 400m, individually and in relays. Beyond their success, both runners are also by far the most consistent with unrivalled longevity in the sport, even after becoming mothers. Tokyo was Allyson's 5th(!) olympics, her first was in 2004. Similarly, Shelly-Ann won her first olympic gold in 2008 at 21, at the same time as Bolt's breakthrough. She has dominated the 100m ever since and is still the world lead in 2022 at 35 years old - she has already ran 10.67 this year. The reason why Nike will continue to have her on the payroll and the media will keep talking about her is because of the attention that she brings which create views that leads to revenue. Just look at the view count on this video. On YT just type in "Sha'Carri Richardson" and look at the views especially when she wins vs. when the other top female athletes win that @Jomo Hector listed. Sydney McLaughlin broke her own world record and it's under a million views. The other issue is that the winning females are either married, in college, disciplined, and more importantly they're not a "Sha'Carri" type. This just show you how there's a larger percentage of black female "Sha'Carri" type who support her nonsense in this "community" because they are all like her.

Let's take Simone Biles out of that conversation. Her struggles were physical. No different from when an athlete is injured. She still went on the GOAT tour and advocated for women and mental health after withdrawing from the individual and all-around at the Olympics. She has been consistently doing her thing and standing on her platform from day one. She won a record breaking 5th World Championship with the goat on her back. I don't put her in the same category as Naomi Osaka or Sha'Carri when it comes to her social media engagement affecting her abilities.

Great commentary...I appreciate every word that was said. People are always tip toeing around this issue because of the ( sensitive issue of mental illness). Why is it that they are so mentally strong to take all the praises when they win. But its like, don't say anything negative when I loose. Smh. I wish the world was like that. We 9 - 5 workers who work from pay check to pay check get disrespected, abused, treated like less than human beings every day and still have to show up for work. I remember Serena and Venus getting called all kind of names from the stand and still went on to win their matches and become one the greatest to ever play the game. So....I am so happy to hear what you have to say about these athletes who are finding excuses and are so fragile. They are seen on social media gaining more are more popularity... but when the media ask them a tough question about loosing it affects their mentality. In my humble opinion if someone is that mentally fragile stay away from social media. Its not hard to do. Work on your craft, and most of them are rich enough to get counseling...unlike us whose pay check, after paying bills can hardly buy food. But like I said its just my humble opinion...Jamaican Fan.

I've said this on Twitter and other KZbin videos, and I'm going to say it again. She can't tell everyone she's the best, dress like she think she's the best, and then play victim when everyone expects her to be the best. Sha'Carri is not mature enough to take all the attention in strides. US track and field jumped the gun in their desperation to find the next superstar athlete from the US. Sha'Carri is the perfect example of what happens when a "celebrity" start believing their own hype. 10.75 at a young age is great but so what? There have been many young so called prodigies in the world of sports who never live up to the hype. The difference is many stay grounded until they start gaining accomplishments. When they don't accomplish much they go away quietly and we get a what happened story later down the years. Sha'Carri on the other hand is playing it out as if she's already won championships and broken records. At the age of 22 she wants to be a spoke person for a sport that she hasn't accomplished anything in. That should tell you exactly where her mindset is. In her head that 10.75 is the most amazing thing ever done in the world of track and field. She's a hype job who was manufactured by the media to bring attention to the sport and be a cash cow for Nike. The media and her fans who are mostly fans of Sha'Carri and not the sport of track and field, built her up into some amazing athlete which in reality she isn't.

Sadly, Sha'Carri's mindset is shared by many young athletes who think they can rest on their laurels when they get one noteworthy accomplishment. Yeah, she was ranked the 10th fastest person in the world. But the people she ran against already broke into a higher competition bracket or won their first gold medal or world championship; she's acting like she's a multiple-time world champion with nothing to show. Outside of that 10.75, she only got an Olympic pre-trail she did decently in but didn't make the team, and that's really it. For all the buster she's been spewing on social media or to whoever puts a camera in her face. She seriously needs to take a long look at herself and ask if this is something she truly wants to do because, eventfully, the limelight fades fast to those that don't accomplish anything in sports.

I'm sorry I think that it's going a little too far to say that shakiri Richardson has influenced the sport of track and field like Usain bolt has that is incorrect the one thing that I will say that she has proven that even though the circus is not in town you can still be a clown if you want to!!

What influence has she had on track. Comparing her to Bolt in anyway is ridiculous. Bolt was a constant winner and true professional.

@@averyj8924 Exactly!! The convos surrounding Bolt were also about stats and his insane abilities and how much more he could raise the bar. The convos around this girl have been about why she keeps losing............. no comparison whatsoever.

Losers should stay quiet. She's been trying to grab clout ever since she won that one race and has failed to do anything since then. She's not focused on her craft, she's tryin to get famous without achieving any accomplishments. Don't call for the cameras when u up if you're not willing to address those same camera when they in your face after you lose.

The races that she's winning are in the early rounds and only meant that she's going to the next round. Look at who she was racing against in those early rounds! Now it's one thing that she was beating those Jamaicans and/or breaking the WR to put herself on the map. She's not even doing that! Things in this society have been flipped. Losers are praised and winners are ignored. Whoredom is praised while marriages are ignored. They're giving handouts to those who aren't willing to put in the work. Allyson Felix is a black 36 yrs. old women who is a college graduate, Olympian, wife, a mother, and have created her own business. Why isn't black females supporting Felix like they're given support to Sha'Carri?

Richardson’s costuming may also cause a problem. When you’re winning it looks great. But when you’re losing, you have to question that you might be focusing on the wrong things.

@@jagdeepsingh723 Flo Jo Joiner I believe started the fashion statement. The Jamaicans display their fashion. So it's not the lashes. Because these ladies were and are winners 🏆. Because they worked hard to become Goats at what they do.

How an adult chooses to present themselves is a window into their mentality. She presents as a stereotype of the dysfunctional woman. Her life is probably in disarray, without boundaries, and directionless... and that would explain the performance results.

Respect is earned on the track with performances - if she was winning none of this would have been an issue to her. At the end of the day she just didn't run fast enough and that is not on the media not kissing her arse enough thats on her and her mental strength, which she doesn't appear to have enough of at this time - if you feel you are being disrespected don't go blaming the press and demanding respect, use it as fuel/motivation to train harder and execute better.
