Like the rest of the comments, I too have this in my tool box but I haven't used it. I know years ago, I must have purchased it for a certain project that obviously got lost in the woods of my mind. Seeing it used is going to make me take it out and find something to play with, some loose strips, and a bit of background might be readily available, laughing about the irony. of course there is. Thanks Jen

Do you trim the white material beneath the blue star leg? If not, does it make it bulky and thick to quilt. I love the look of this runner. Thanks for the great tutorial
@ShabbyFabrics3 жыл бұрын
We didn't trim the "excess" white, as we found it helps to stabilize the block. We're so glad you enjoyed this! -Michelle

Would you normally cut the white fabric behind the star. It would just add extra bulk wouldn’t it. Love those stars, they’re beautiful.
@ShabbyFabrics Жыл бұрын
Hi Sue - That's an excellent question! The instructions that come with this Creative Grids tool mention to not trim that away since it provides for more stability for the block. -Michelle
@lnino03133 жыл бұрын
I noticed that you did not cut the excess of the background square after sewing the blue strips on. Looks like there are three layers on those two corners. Wouldn’t that make it bulky?
@ShabbyFabrics3 жыл бұрын
Great question!! We found that it helps stabilize the block and did not ad excess bulk. -Michelle

Well got my ruler and once again ripped ripped ripped. The center piece always looked like it wouldn’t float the points. Look short. But finally realized that when you sew the three rows together that brings those points in. How many times do I have to do this to realize that it works. Duh 🙄

Are you not supposed to trim the excess from white and blue?
@janicek28603 жыл бұрын
That’s what I was wondering
@patriciatsunoda57713 жыл бұрын
There isn't any excess white because it's cut to the correct size. Only the blue has excess outside the white.
@janicek28603 жыл бұрын
@@patriciatsunoda5771 I’m talking about the white under the blue star leg. Like when you trim a hst. Most times it’s cut off.

I just have to have faith that the blue points float. When I see your pieces laid out it seems like the blue points will be cut off. This has fooled me before when making 2” finished stars. Kept trying to figure it out. Even ripped several times thinking I had done something wrong before finishing the block🤦♀️
