The directing and editing style since Tyranth joined the channel is so entertaining. And the chemistry the three of you have is incredible. Hats off to you sirs. Surprised by the katana in this. Sure they're sharp, but they don't have as much mass as some of the other swords to push through thicker objects.
@lexievv Жыл бұрын
They are more ridged and wobble less tho, so maybe more of the force of impact is actually going into the wood.
@kikixchannel Жыл бұрын
@@lexievv They are also thinned probably, so there's less opposition from the wood. The exact reason why claymore was crap. It was too thick.
@stefthorman8548 Жыл бұрын
what? katanas aren't light at all, what makes you think it has less mass?
@KoshoShinogi Жыл бұрын
@@stefthorman8548 Mass and weight are not the same. Mass is a measurement of how much matter an object contains, not how heavy it is. But let me clarify my statement. The falchion and broadsword are wider than the katana. The katana is a longer but narrower sword, so its overall mass may be similar, but at the point of impact where the sword strikes the tree, the other two have more mass. More mass equals more force. I am by no means a physicist so feel free to correct me, but that was my thinking when I made the statement.
@kikixchannel Жыл бұрын
@@KoshoShinogi Um...Katana does have more mass... You're right in that mass is not the same as weight. But that's mostly all you are correct on. In a world where gravity exists, objects with more mass will be heavier. That's because weight IS just mass times the gravitational force (which is equal). An object with twice the mass will also be twice as heavy. Furthermore, going by their size and balance, katana is more dense so there's even MORE mass at the point of impact. Because there's more mass in smaller part of the small blade. This is exactly the crux with a katana. Its density, stiffness and being blade-heavy makes it a good cutter, but far more fragile and less 'agile' than western blades.

Realistically, specific swords aside, it should just be the sword that is most axe-like, which in the blade would be something like a kriegsmesser, or even more exaggerated would be maciejowski falchion. That kriegsmesser handle does look painful, though, both the material and the shape.

I agree with Shad, the bastard sword impressed me the most from what I could see. Tyranth did mention the Katana being the most comfortable, a factor we can't "see".

ya, comfort would be a big factor. especially if wielded for a long time.

Amazing video! I had nearly zero expectation on the katana. But hey! It went so well that actually performed better than the claymore AND kriegsmesser surprised me. For chopping tree though, I would prefer the Falchion and the Machete. But overall I'm gonna vote for bastard sword, not only because it's my favorite type of sword, but also for its practicality and versatility (that's why I fell in love with it two decades ago)
