Good idea with the mounts,,,I just bought a speedaire I'm restoring and the mounting plate was cracked from vibration also,,I welded it,,but I'm going to use your idea putting it back together,,,mine is a 4 cylinder compressor a beast,,,stole it for 125 dollars,,,people have no idea what they have,,,I price the pump alone now is 3400 dollars...

So I assume this means that air compressors generally run very cool? I assumed motors all ran hot. Interesting.

You see so many clowns on KZbin that do such substandard work. Its refreshing to finally see a guy that does awesome work! Nice job!

I am wondering if the UHMW between the motor an the top plate has lead to any wandering? Personally, I like to mount the motor to a hinged plate and use a coil spring loaded adjustment bolt at the end to fine tune the belt tension and absorb startup jolts & vibrations. However, I image working with such a heavy motor might need a car sized coil spring to do that.

Hi ! Wav - it looks naughty but, oh boy, it a nice restoring and I love your method for cleaning the tank ! Only drawback ... the terrible noise !

Great job. I just bought a 30 gallon model 220 DeVilbiss for my first every compressor, and I don't know if its safe to operate. Takes about 10min. to cut out at 100psi. but the thing is built in 1955 and is 0.142 thick and I have some rust in there. I was planning to do the hydro test so I don't find out till it's too late that it's a ticking time bomb.Tank says that it has a 200psi working tank pressure. I was planning on pumping it to 1.5 time so 300psi. How long should I let it sit pressurized, and if it passes that without problem, do you have any other ideas on how to clean up the inside for someone without a pipe threader. I know everybodies first response is just get a new tank, but I don't have that kind of funding. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Great restoration. I would have added a bunch of pipe with a water drain before the bottle to get the air temp down. Although I guess that is useless. The tank will still get very wet. But it would be nice to preserve all your hard work.

Did you you use the same welders paint + acetone on the outside as a base coat that you used to paint the inside in the first video? (the color looks the same before you painted it red)
@ShadonHKW3 жыл бұрын
yes, I did.
@jakeg20333 жыл бұрын
@@ShadonHKW really appreciate it! I have an old tank I plan to hydro test and if it passes restore and paint, I cannot afford a thread making machine, but I think I can maybe use a couple V-Blocks and rig an old clothes dryer motor to turn it.
@jakeg20333 жыл бұрын
@@ShadonHKW Do you happen to remember the mixture % for the paint to acetone? To do the inside and outside of the tank how many gallons of paint and acetone did you have to use?
@ShadonHKW3 жыл бұрын
@@jakeg2033 The primer I used was really thick, so it was a 50-50 mix to get it sprayable. the paint was 75-25, acetone is a good cold weather thinner, use mineral spirits in hot weather. A capful of Japan drier in both helps drying.

I also wanted to mention: the "offloader" mechanism..switch-ma-call-it is very interesting. I bet it's a pricy assessory to a pump.
